ANOTHER
MOTHER RUNNER

Hump Day Giveaway: Yurbuds Inspire Female Headphones

A yurbuds giftpack: the new Inspire 'buds, engineered just for us women; plus a yurbuds sweaty band; an Inspire towel to wipe away all the sweat the band doesn't catch; and a tiny Luna bar for a post-run bite. We've got three of these sweet packs to giveaway.

I don't profess to be hip; I just don't want to be dubbed a geek, a nerd, or a square. (Do people even use that term anymore? Does fact I just did actually make me a "square"?!) I freely admit to not knowing at least half the "celebrities" in USWeekly and having seen only two movies in theatres this year--make that one if you discount "Brave". The only jeans I own that aren't from the Gap or Target are hand-me-downs from my taller mother runner pal.

But music: There's something I'm up on. As I wrote in Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving--and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity, I have myriad ways of finding new songs and staying up on current releases, including Spotify, Pandora, Shazam app, Entertainment Weekly. heck, even NPR.

Recent tags on my Shazam app.

Once I've garnered a bunch of boppy tunes, I love making a playlist of them and sharing them on our site. Somehow it all makes me feel younger and, okay, just a little hip. I might never again run a sub-1:50 half-marathon or bust out mile-repeats in 7:15 like I could just a few they-sure-felt-like-short years ago.  But, dang it, I started listening to "Some Nights" by Fun. months ago, and I bought P!nk's latest CD the day it was released.

One music-related item I've been hip to for numerous years is yurbuds sport earphones. The first models of these incredibly comfortable, stay-put-no-matter-what earphones came out in 2008; soon after testing them for a magazine review, I was a complete convert. Now the company has debuted ones made specifically for women--the Inspire Female In-ear Headphones--and I'm loving them. The silicone FlexSoft portion that goes in your ears are, like their name implies, flexible and soft, and they are smaller than the unisex versions. (The women's version also comes with two sets of earbuds so you can get an ideal fit.)

Another must-have for me: an extra-long cord. When I stash my iPod in the pocket of my skirt, I don't feel the earbuds might get yanked out at any point--there's plenty of play in the cord to allow me to move my head (and arms) freely. Plus, the fastinista in me loves the women's Inspire are available in six colors.

Think of the female Inspire line as Skittles for your ears.

Three lucky ladies will get to experience the comfort and sound quality. Whoops:  I forgot to  mention the stereo sound yet the ability to hear ambient sound, like cars coming up behind you or friends cheering from the sidelines. Anyway, three lucky runners will get a pair of these new yurbuds as part of a package of goodies, including a yurbuds Sweaty Band, Luna Bar and towel.

To enter, scroll down under this post on our site and click on the Post a Comment orange ribbon, and tell us: What song is making you feel hip these days? It can be one you listen to while running, pound out on the steering wheel of your minivan, or sing to your colicky baby. ('Cuz I'll admit: I also love getting song suggestions from our tribe of mother runners, so this question is somewhat self-serving!) Sing it out, and tell us the song.

[Some fine print for this fine prize.] This sweepstakes is open to those over 18 and residents of the United States. It begins on 11/7/12 and ends on 11/13/12; the winner will be announced on 11/17/12. One entry per person. The value of each prize is $50. The number of eligible entries received determines the odds of winning. Void where prohibited by law.

  1. My playlists are such a mix of calypso, reggae, rock, hip hop & country tunes.. but when I need to dig team to finish that run Katy Perry This is a Part of Me or David Guetta’s Titanium.. those are my power songs and can get me thru any run!!

I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose fire away, fire away ricochet, you take your aim fire away, fire away you shoot me down, but I won’t fall I am titanium you shoot me down, but I won’t fall I am titanium!!!!!

  2. My obsession right now is Heart it Races by Dr. Dog and My Body by Young the Giant. Gets the blood moving!
I have been buying songs from Amazon like a mad woman, can’t wait to make another running playlist! Thanks for all the new suggestions!

  3. When I run, I listen primarily to Ladies. My warmups begin with Nervous Breakthrough by Luscious Jackson, then Aannie Lennox’s Little Bird. Then when I speed up, I listen to the Run Lola Run soundtrack. Like Lola in the movie, it really gets me moving. 🙂

  4. Singing, er, shouting, Dynamite in the car with my 8-year old is pure bliss. But Good Time by Carly Rae Jepsen gets my feet moving!

  5. LMAFO Im Sxy and I know it. Who doesnt want to scream this song at the top of their lungs while they are sweaty and running? Psh! 🙂

  6. Anything by Pink, Beyonce, and the Black Eye Peas. Also listen to Maroon 5, Cher Lloyd, One Direction, PSY, LMAFO to name a few…basically anything with a great beat.

  7. I really like Fun “Some Nights” well, really, I love that whole album and Colbie Coailet’s “Brighter Than the Sun”

  8. I this thread! I’m in dire need of some new tunes, so this is perfectly timed. I still am jamming the Bieber, “Runaway Love”…it’s cool because it has RUN in it, right???

  9. Anything by Eminem. But I cant play with kids around only when I have my ear buds on! And my ear buds are getting old I could really use another pair. This Mama needs to secretly listen to her dirty music!

  10. I absolutely love having “Don’t Mess Around With Jim” on my playlist. My mom used to play this on the piano (back in the day. I am a child of the 70s!) and we would dance and sing. It always makes me smile and pick up my pace!!

  11. My fav “get your bootie moving” running song right now is, “I can only Imagine” by David Guetta (feat. Chris Brown & Lil Wayne. My “giving myself concerts in my Prius,” Adele or Glee. 😉

  12. “I Only Want You” by Eagles of Death Metal. It’s not as hardcore as the band name suggests, but it does put a spring in my step.

  13. “Like a G6” by Far East Movement, “How We Do” by Rita Ora, “Want You Back” by Cher Lloyd, and “Where the Streets Have No Name” by U2. These songs ALWAYS get me running 🙂

  14. Rocket by Smashing Pumpkins…best song to run to, and I only just moved it to my training kix 3 weeks ago. I can’t believe I went without running to it for so long!

  15. I don’t think this is going to make me sound hip, but my all time favorite song to run to is Eminem, Lose it. Followed closely by Kanye West, Stronger.

  16. I may be a day late for the contest but just found a fun new song: Live While We’re Young by One Direction. I’m not very hip when it comes to music but came across this and had to get it!

  17. I never listen to anything while I run, but since I’ve been doing most of my running by myself lately, I decided to listen to something today. I chose your recent podcasts. Loved the run. Loved listening to the podcast. Not so happy the earbuds wouldn’t stay put. Looking forward to spending more time with you on my runs. Sorry … no specific song to share …

  18. It’s Nice to Be Alive by Ball Park Music.

Whenever I’m having a bad day (I’m in the middle of a divorce with 2 small kids) I turn this song on during my run and it reminds me that its great to be alive…. no matter what’s going on in that moment. Running is therapy and this song is inspiring!

  19. I love it when my iPod brings up “How You Like Me Now” by The Heavy. It always seems to come up at the end of a tough workout or super-speedy mile to remind me what a BAMR I really am. 😀

  20. With a 7,5,3, and 1 year old at home all day, most of the new music I hear is by Justin Roberts or Dan Zanes, so my running playlist could hardly be called hip…but, Lose Yourself by Eminem really gets my blood pumping and my feet moving!

  21. My current favorite is “She’s so Mean” by Matchbox 20. I can’t actually listen to it while running, though, since I end up doing a funny run-dance thing instead!

  22. My iPod is a mix of everything, but not much new stuff. One of the songs that gets me moving is You Could Be Mine by Guns N Roses.

  23. Wow, I have so many favorites right now that get me through my runs. I listen to several different artist that I uploaded to my ipod shuffle. I like to keep it mixed. I bought some cardio cds that vary beats. My favorite one to keep me -going is called “SPEED” the beat is 175-195 depending on the song that plays. Favorites on that track..”Footlose”, “Jump,Jive, and Wail”. Those get me going especially when facing a hill. I would love to win some “Yurbuds” so I can keep those tunes in my ears,I hate pushing my earphones back in every few miles. 🙂

  24. On days where I really need some motivation, I listen to the theme song of Biggest Loser. Then I visualize that if they can do all they go through and I can accomplish anything as well.

  25. One of my favorite songs right now is “Payphone” by Maroon 5, but if I’m running I’m most likely listening to AMR podcasts. I’m not a speedy runner, so if I’m listening to a podcast I’m at a better pace. It’s like running with a friend. Thanks for inspiring this “starting over” runner!

  26. Right at this moment, it’s STRONGER, by Kelly Clarkson. You recommended it somewhere and I downloaded it and love it! I time it so it’s the last song on my 5k playlist.

  27. I Only Want You by Eagles of Death Metal (sounds way more hardcore than it is) and Hello by Karmin. These songs are just the right tempo for all the 5Ks I am doing this fall/winter.

  28. I am a new runner, having started in May of 2012. I have three 5Ks,one Dirty Girl 5K Mud Run and one 4 mile race under my belt. One of my favorite run songs is Adele’s Rolling in the Deep – “There’s a fire …” something about the pounding gets my blood pumping and my legs moving. But I have to confess I recently changed my listening practice to podcasts from NPR, specifically The Splendid Table, Good Food, The Sporkful. My husband, more technologically inclined than I, helped me download podcasts through Stitcher Radio (I just added Another Mother Runner!). He wondered if it didn’t defeat the purpose to be listening about food while running. I said no! It made me look forward to the reward breakfast after my nine mile run!

  29. I am loving the Imagine Dragons lately, and Top of the World gets me moving! Also I love starting all my races with Welcome to the Jungle, so silly but it gets me pumped!

  30. I don’t know how hip this one makes me feel (considering it’s an oldie), but it gets me going right now while running like no other song can: “No One Like You” by Scorpions! (yes, I l.o.v.e. heavy metal:)

  31. OK, I will freely admit that I have no style in any form. I’m very much the nerd. That said, my hippest music to listen to is Glee. I’m a huge fan of musicals and I love how they combine more modern music with music I normally listen to. My current favorite right now is Umbrella/Singing in the Rain, which also features Gwyneth Paltrow.

  32. Lose Yourself by Eminim is a stand by for sure – always gets me moving a little faster. Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass gives my fastest runs according to the little app that tracks speed and music.

  33. My favorite song of the moment is “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. There’s a brief part where the singer is gasping for breath. It’s fitting at times.

  34. “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepson and “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus. These songs were lipdubbed by Olympic athletes (swimming/diving team and women’s soccer team) this summer and whenever they come up in my run playlist, I cannot help but get pumped up as I picture those amazing athletes rocking out in England. 🙂

  35. When I need a boost on a run, I play “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. Not sure it really makes me feel “hip”, but definitely makes me feel like a strong woman!!

  36. My current favorite song is “Home” by Phillip Phillips. It reminds me of the weekend this fall with my best running buddy–we ran a half marathon together. (my first!) The song was on when I picked her up at the airport after not seeing her for a few months, and was on when I dropped her off.

  37. We will never get back together by taylor swift but I must convince that I was jamming to the doodlebops the other day before I realized I didn’t have my daughter with me.

  38. “got my mind set on you” by George Harrison. Definitely old school, but it’s my 2 1/2 year olds favorite song and I love hearing him sing it to me 🙂

  39. Living on a Prayer has made me laugh and run this fall. I hit the turn around at a local 5k,as the 1st chorus rang out, “Whoa o your half way there!” I kicked in high gear, and laughed aloud.

  40. I need to do an update to my playlist. The most recent additions are Titanium by David Guetta/Sia (or as one clueless DJ up here in Duluth said, David Gwetta….) and The Fighter by Gym Class Heroes. Sitting here at 8am on a Sunday trying to figure out where and when to run this morning…think it’s a good time to do an update!

  41. I’ve been listening to FloRida, Akon, Taylor Swift, and Dolly Parton. My secret weapon for finding new music is listening to Pandora’s workout stations – they have an endurance one that I’ve picked a lot of music off of. I keep a post-it note at my desk where I list a bunch of songs and then when it’s full, I start buying.

  42. I have been a Bruce Springsteen fan since the late 1970’s. I recently got to see him in concert again and Bruce is still absolutely amazing. His talent and energy leave me signing and dancing. My theme song was Born to Run when I was in high school and it still is. ‘Casue tramps like us, baby we were born to run.

  43. I’ve found that my shuffle button is my best friend. There is music n my iPod that I haven’t heard in years and the beats from the past get me going. But when I’ve had a hard day and I’m running off the stress I like Saliva. The first album not the newer stuff. It’s rough and powerful and keeps my feet hitting the pavement as I tackle those hills.

  44. “Get over your hill and see what you find there with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.” Mumford and Sons, After the Storm.

  45. i don’t listen to music when running outside, but definitely at the gym and in the car. My fav’s are anything fast by foo fighters… anything from paul revere onto the latest from the beastie boys… and anything upbeat by michael jackson.

  46. Hip would be my running olaylist, with things like Lady GaGa and Maroon 5 as the closet hip music. Otherwise I am all up on Fiona Apple and her new music!

  47. Gold on the Ceiling – Black Keys (found on AMR playlists!!)

    Other favs:
    Sun Children – Nickodemus
    Some Nights – fun
    Hey Mama – Mat Kearney
    Everybody Talks – Neon Trees

  48. Everybody Talks by Neon Trees is the favorite for running and jamming in the car right now. My 4 year old just loves dance to it!

  49. I just found out that I have some autoimmune problems and I find that running helps with the pain and frustration. 🙂 My music gives me motivation and helps me keep a steady stride. My favorite songs are songs that are about 153 beats per minute. They seem to fit my running stride. If you haven’t tried that concept yet you should! Find a song that you really like running to and google it to find out how many beats per minute it is. Then google search for other songs that are close to that amount.

Current favorites on my list right now are:

This is the New year by Ian Axel
    Alive by Sherwood
On top of the world by Boys Like Girls
No Sunlight by Death Cab for Cutie

If you are looking for a good song that you can warm up to (start out walking and then begin jogging as it gets faster)
I would go with Sigh no More by Mumford and Sons

If I really feel like pushing myself and increasing my speed a bit I listen to :
The Middle by Jimmy Eat World

  50. Whether b/c of my political allegiances or b/c Bruce simply rocks, I am currently obsessed with ‘we take care of our own,’ by Bruce Springsteen

  51. I’d have to say the songs that help me have a bada** mother run lately include Titanium, Freefallin’ by Zoe Badwi, and Alive by Dirty South and Thomas Gold.

Some older tried-and-true songs for me: I Like The Way You Move by Bodyrockers, Some Kinda Rush by Booty Luv, Closer by Ne-Yo, and Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That by Robert Randolph.

  52. I am so not hip, I still have Barry Manilow “Daybreak” and “Mandy” on my shuffle (and I’ve seen his Vegas show). But I also love listening to Ke$ha, PINK, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Florence and the Machine. Running my first ‘thon in 3 weeks (one more long run before the Taper!), so I’m hopeful to get some new tunes in my ipod before Race day.

  53. My music tastes are eclectic and range from Erasure to The Lumineers to Pitbull. Anything with an awsome up beat gets me motivated.

  54. Beyonce: “Get Me Bodied” and it has to be the extended remix. 🙂 Just try not to smile when you hear the lyrics “Snap for the kids. Now, snap for the kids. Snap for the kids three times.”

  55. Not terribly hip, and feeling kind of mellow these days, “Littlest Birds” by The Be Good Tanyas, if I need a pick me up Joan Jett usually gets me fired up, and George Harrison, “Give me Love” always makes me feel good from the inside out.

  56. My song is “Bounce” by System of a Down. It’s fast and really gets me going. Heavy music helps me run faster when I feel like slowing down or stopping but when that song comes on, I HAVE to RUN! 🙂

  57. Favorite songs right now are ABBA’s Waterloo and Starships. Waterloo I got off of one your playlists a couple of weeks ago and I’ve got it timed for my final slog up the hill to home. Starships is my current addition from my daughters Kids Bop CD, a constant play from home to swim practice.

  58. Gospel Group Mary Mary’s “Go Get It” pushed me while I ran the first half of the Marine Corps Marathon a few weeks ago. I kept it on repeat the entire time, the words truly move me!

  59. This probably doesn’t make me hip, but one of my favorites is Feels like I’ve been Losing by Tenth Avenue North.

I usually just plop Pandora on and call it good – I’m not a music fiend and actually consider myself music illiterate. 😛 Music (in general) just allows me the goal of losing myself within thought. I don’t pay much attention to it at all when I’m running!

  60. Girls just Want To Have Fun – Star****er
Dog Days Are Over- Florence + the Machine
Don’t Change Horses- Tower of Power
    Funky monkey-Rio soundtrack (I am a mom…)
    Força- Nellie Furtado
Crazy little thing called love-Queen (great cadence)
We Found love – Rhianna (great for speed bursts!)
I can’t post one song… It’s like asking me what my favorite book is! 🙂

  61. Excellent!! I have been looking for a pair of headphones that actually stay in my ear’s. There is nothing more annoying then having to adjust them the entire race!! While I am driving in the car I like to listen to a local pop radio station in order to connect to my younger self 🙂 I often put a lot of those songs on my ipod for running as well.

  62. I am almost embarrassed to admit…. my favorite running songs are songs I would NEVER let my kids listen to. Namley…. Eminem “Lose Yourself” “Cinderella Man” and “Til I Collapse.” When my co-workers found that very conservative, I, listen to Eminem I think they were speechless.

  63. Gangnam Style! I can’t sit still when I hear it. And, I earned cool cred when I played it for musical chairs at my daughter’s birthday party and the other adults didn’t get it. I’m glad you mentioned Some Nights because I love that one too!

  64. I currently love running to Good Life by OneRepublic with Arlandria by the Foo Fighters and All Is Not Lost by OK Go following close behind. They re-energize my pace every time I listen to them. 🙂

  65. I think it’s a tie between “Fighter” by Christina Aguilerra and “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson. Those songs ALWAYS pump me up no matter how hard the workout =)

  66. I’ll have to admit to the “not so hip” podcast group. But it’s still motivation to hear how other runners are doing with their training.

  67. I’ve been running listening to your podcast lately but when I’m busting some tunes I love “Cheerleader” by St. Vincent. I also love Sufjan Steven’s album The Age of Adz for early morning runs…it is very majestic.

  68. I have been rocking out to a mix by Rock My Run, Grrl Power! I love the site as I can get any genre, any tempo, and several options on length – 30 min, 40 min, 1 hour, 2 hour. Believe me they help me keep my tempo!

  69. “Don’t fail me now” by Melanie Amaro. A strong, driving pop beat plus lyrics made for runners “I’ve never got this close so don’t fail me now – feet don’t feel me now”. You won’t regret checking this song out!

  70. Wow! What an interesting mix of music we all listen to! Not sure it is “hip” but I always like Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z. Maybe it is because I know all the words (due to a long car ride and my 12 year-old playing it non-stop) so I feel cool singing it. I’m sure I most definitely do NOT sound cool, though! Ha!

  71. The Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga… this one popped up in my playlist at the end of a recent 10K and gave me the oomph I needed to haul my tail over the finish line. I keep it on a special “end of run” playlist so I can amp up my energy when I need to.
Thanks for the awesome contest – love getting everyone else’s tunes too! 🙂

  72. I’m embarrassed to admit this, but if it puts me in the running for these awesome headphones, I’ll swallow my pride! 🙂 I cannot stop listening (and singing ridiculously loud along to) Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Getting Back Together.” My 3 year old son even joins in and points out the “Never Ever” singer whenever he sees her on TV or in a magazine! I am 31 years old and in a happy, loving marriage, but cannot resist rocking out to this teenage break up song!

  73. So many songs — Love A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. Love that my kids and I tend to like a lot of the same music — I do find I’m only buying music that is good to run to these days. There are a couple of sons by Fun, that are fun.

  74. I like “Let’s Go” by Calvin Harris. I time it in my running playlist so I know when to really push it to the end of my 5k distance. It works!!

  75. My current fav running song is “Man Like That” by Gin Wigmore. I usually have to repeat it several times during a run before moving on.

  76. I never listen to music while I’m running, but when I’m alone in my car…watch out!! Right now I’m into Coldplay and Snow Patrol – Too many favs – but I’ll go with Coldplays “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”.

  77. I’m old and not current on things ,but I love Good Feeling by Flo Rida! And also lately an oldie – You Dropped a Bomb on Me (Gap Band) – hat tip to SBS for that one!!!

  78. I don’t know if it is hip, but I love Kick Drum Heart by the Avett Brothers. I see on JogFM that it is for a slower pace, but my fast isn’t as fast as others so I love it. I could really use headphones that don’t fall out of my ears! So annoying.

  79. I hope my 13 year old NEVER finds out that I catch myself singing Oppa Gangam Style!!! It gets trapped in my brain!!! However, as she is jumping around our living room – I tell her I cannot STAND this song!!!!heheheheheheeeee

  80. I love anything by PINK! Most of my playlists have been classic rock, but I’m evolving. Thanks for inspiration.

  81. Kelly Clarkston: Catch My Breath. This song sounds like it was written about running. Played it three times in my marathon and thru my arms up in my head, because trying to PR was digging deep and I didn’t want to make a total fool of myself. But my day is coming…

  82. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift. It helps push me through a run to know that the run that I’m doing at the time and I are not ever getting back together once it’s DONE!

  83. Just added this week in prep for the Philly Half and I’m loving it… Feels Like Heaven by Bruno Mars. Makes me feel hip bc it’s a new pop song. Giddy up!

  84. My iPod magically knows when I am flagging in my run and magically plays “Reach for the Sky” by Social Distortion practically every time! It is probably one of the cooler songs in my bizarre mix of 80s cheesiness and new wave, and it ever fails to pick me up!

  85. I have just started listening to audiobooks but I also really like Latin music for running. One of my favorite Ozomatli because they have a great fusion of different sounds and upbeat music.

  86. Love music by Imagine Dragons, Mumford & Sons, and Of Monsters and Men. When I hear a song with a good beat, then it gets dropped into my running playlist.

  87. right now my favorite is “Some Nights” and it is possible that “We are never ever, ever, ever ,ever getting back together” is being played over and over on an ipod that looks like mine…..ok ok it is mine….there….
I keep thinking how bad I needed that song back in my senior year in High School!!! 🙂

  88. I know I can’t win, cause I am in Canada but check out Jully Black’s song Running….can’t quit playing it. Empowering somehow.

  89. I’m really digging, “Everybody Talks” by the Neon Trees and being able to guess artists of current pop songs to totally impress my 13-year-old daughter!

  90. I rarely listen to music while running. My preference is another mother runner or your podcasts if I have to be alone. But, at races, “I’ve got a feeling” can really get me pumped up.

  91. Great inspiration on this list! My latest favorite is Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa by Vampire Weekend. Plus the name just sounds looney.

  92. I am a country music girl, but my ultimate running song (and it was my song as a competitive swimmer way back in the day) is Pink Floyd’s “Learning to Fly.”

  93. My pick from the summer is “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That” by Robert Randolph and the Family Band. It was playing at the finish line of my first every trail race and had the perfect celebratory beat!

  94. Hip: the song that gets stuck in my head ALL THE TIME these days is ‘Submarines’ by the Lumineers. Not hip: the other day while I was running with my Shuffle, the silly song ‘Tubthumping’ by Chumbawamba came on and I and wanted to keep rewinding to repeat the first part. It has a good cadence!

  95. I let me 16 year old choose my music many times, especially when I was training for a marathon and needed new music. She put Florence and the Machine on my iPod (I think it was What the Water Gave Me) I would have never have chosen her for a running play list, but it was surprisingly powerful to run too!

  96. I am, thanks to you all, much more UTD on music than I have ever been. My current favorite? Anything from the Pitch Perfect soundtrack!

  97. My Body by Young the Giant. I was introduced to the song by a running friend of mine and fell in love. I didn’t hear it anywhere else for a long time and then my 20 something nephew made a disc for his old aunt and it was on there. I felt so hip for knowing at least one song that the “kids” were listening to. 😉

  98. It’s not a song by an artist, but it is the Llama song. My 2 youngest kids (ages 7 and 10) are constantly singing it and doing the hand motions. They find it totally amazing that I can do it right along with them.

  99. The song that makes me feel super strong when I run is “Til I Collapse” by Eminem. Other upbeat favs that make me feel “hip”, anything from a Step Up movie soundtrack (right now I love “Church” by T Pain & “Beggin” by Madcon. For my more upbeat, spiritual side, I’ve added several tobyMac remixes and his collaboration with Mandisa titled “Good Morning”!
For the Disney geek in me, I listen to some awesome Disney podcasts like the Be Our Guest Podcast, as well as music from the parks.

  100. Have to admit it’s “Not Your Birthday” by Allstar Weekend. Nothing quite motivates me like the line, “Quit your bit**in’, move your feet!” 🙂

  101. Fighter by Gym Class Hereos

“and if I can last 30 rounds
There’s no reason why you should have your head down”

  102. I am also a little older than my playlist would suggest so I can relate! One of my favorites now is Everybody Talks by Neon Trees but I’ve been listening to that for awhile. One that I really like is Dog Days Are Over by Florence + the Machine. Two Door Cinema Club’s What You Know is also great. Can’t wait to check out some of the songs others have posted!

  103. Songs by P!NK Especially “Raise Your Glass” and “Get The Party Started” make me feel like I’m flying
    while getting my stink on!

  104. I’m usually old school 80s pop/R&B when I run. But lately I’ve been hung up on Gangnam Style. I just can’t seem to get it out of my head, it always puts me in a good mood.

  105. One song that always gets my feet moving is hey ya by outkast . I know it’s an oldie but its on every running playlist I have.

  106. “Firework” by Katy Perry. I like to listen to Katy Perry and Lady Gaga while I run… even though I rarely listen to them otherwise. The lyrics are interesting, and the beat keeps me on pace. It is my feel-good-running-music!

  107. She’s a runner, rebel, and a stunner……

Dani California- Red Hot Chili Peppers. That song comes on and I get a goofy smile on my face and feel my pace get faster.

  108. I’m not sure anything ever makes me feel hip, but I am lovin’ Diamonds (Rihanna) and I Finally Found You (Enrique iglesias).

  109. I have to admit that I have the clean version of Eminem’s ‘Til I Collapse on my mp3 player and it really makes me pick up my pace.

  110. love “wavin’ flag” by K’naan. so inspirational. if you like Mattisyahu there is a mash up out there of “One Day” and “wavin’ flag” that brings on goose bumps.
also, Lady Gaga The Edge of Glory…that will move you like no one’s business that last mile…
    enjoy!!!

  111. I’ve been using free mp3 credits from Amazon to download workout music. Right now I have an R&B mix that really gets me moving. Titanium with David Guetta featuring Sia is one of my favorites.

  112. I’ve been enjoying Jai Ho for extra encouragement and she loves Firework. We’ve been prepping for a 5k this weekend, so anything that gets her moving is a good thing.

  113. “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips, which is totally about the marathon: “You could sustain – or are you comfortable with the pain? You’ve got no one to blame for your unhappiness – you got yourself into your own mess!” 🙂

  114. I usually listen to podcasts, too (AMR -yours are in the rotation, of course!) but I have to admit I get a second wind to Lady Gaga’s Edge of Glory. Only Gaga song I own – don’t know what it is about it, but it’s a Powersong for me.

  115. I second everyone who said “Lose Yourself” by Eminem. GREAT song to run up hills to! I am loving Mumford and Sons right now. My whole family likes to rock out to “I Will Wait.”

  116. Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5. Gets me going & makes me feel cool like Jagger while running! These Yurbuds look really cool- I always have problems finding good earbuds.

  117. I feel pretty hip when my teenage sons and their friends are amazed when I can name the bands on the radio or their iPods, i.e. Blink 182, Shinedown, Escape the Fate and one of my personal favorites to run to, Rise Against. I’m not sure why I like to run to them other than it reminds me of my teenagers and keeps me moving. But to show my true “hipness”, I’ve got to have some good ole 80’s music. My true music love.

  118. Oh!!! I have been WISHING for a pair of these! I’ve been running ‘silent’ since May when my hubby ‘borrowed’ my headphones. Training for marathons without music has been a real challenge. Soon, very soon, I intend to be back on the pavement with my tunes, and “Well Done” will be on the top of my playlist. Fingers crossed! I sure hope I win a pair.

  119. Sexy and I know it – LMFAO. Bon Bon – Armando is a close second. Some Nights, Hey Mama and Call me maybe tire for third place. Could not have made it through my first half this past weekend without these tunes.

  120. “Your Body” by Christina Aguilera, and for a very strange/good reason: it inspires me to want to jump my husband! With two small kids, I don’t get that sort of inspiration often. And a happy husband leads to more running time for me!

  121. It came to me on a run to change the words to the song by Kesha “Your Love Is My Drug”
To “My Run Is My Drug” and that’s what I play at least three times on a run.

  122. What the Hell by Avril Lavigne always makes me feel hip because I saw her perform the song live 2 years ago (when she was on the View). Everyone around me looked about 18 at the time & I remember thinging….this is so cool!

  123. The fact that I’m 41 and don’t apologize that Motley Crue, Poison and Guns and Roses are crucial to my playlist makes me feel hip.

  124. In true 80’s girl style, my playlist isn’t always that current. The most current songs on my playlist tend to be Glee songs like “Stronger” from Volume 4. I also have 3 Doors Down – “Duck & Run” which has a great beat. Thanks for this great giveaway. Seeing everyone’s choices makes me feel like a winner already!

  125. Easy!! While my running play list is very bi-polar, I can’t help but feel HIP with “I’m Sexy and I Know it”!!!! AND – I TOTALLY need new ear buds! Mine are breaking in the cord.

  126. Not so hip, but my guilty pleasure is 80’s hair bands. Motley Crüe
And “Kickstart my Heart” get me going every time!

  127. I haven’t felt hip since, well, forever. My favorite music for running is the Big 40 Countdown on Sirius/XM 80s on 8. But only if it is a year I care about, 1980 through about 1986. 80s music kinda sucked after that. 🙂

  128. I love these! I didn’t realize they were different sizes and I’m on the auxiliary pair, which are too big.

I’m super into “Domino” by Jessie J. It’s just so. Damn. Catchy.

  129. I see lots of my faves already listed. For running I like anything one could dance to. “everybody talks” by neon trees, “we found love” by rihanna, “glad you came” by the wanted.

  130. I love Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” and Mary J. Blige “the One”! That’s about as hip as I can get these days…

  131. Firework by Katy Perry and Loser Like Me by the Glee Cast (okay, that one may not be the most hip, but I find it very inspiring!)

  132. My favorite will always be Machinehead by Bush! I know it’s old, but when it comes on I feel like a kid again ang it gets me going!!!

  133. Love this thread and I can’t wait to go check out some of your suggestions. Tried to make some reccomendations on some of the threads, too. Hope nobody minded! So, a few of my friends recommended the band Die Antwoord. It’s VERY inappropriate- lots o bad words- but its fun and FAST! If I had to pick a specific song to check out “I Fink U Freeky” Definitely not safe for kids!!!

  134. OK – my final song on my list for a half is Frampton’s “Do You Feel Like I Do?’ live…It makes me smile and gives me energy – I cross the finish line just as he comes out of his mouthpiece and guitar riff, the audience erupts, only when I listen to it they are erupting in applause for ME as I cross the finish line…

  135. It doesn’t get any hipper than Janelle Monae, IMO.
Do you know her, Sarah? If not, you’re in for a treat. Start with “Tighrope.”
    Perfect for tempo run pace!

    (I’d love those yur buds!!)

  136. Inhave to admit I would do many many things to win the attention of Adam Lavine…. Yes, he is pretty near perfect:) my new addiction when I’m running is my Maroon 5 station on pandora and the new song One More Night makes me smile and run just a little bit harder, because lets face it Adam does things to many of us!!!!:)

  137. I’m loving “Valerie” by the gLee cast right now. It was from a few seasons ago but love it in the car but mostly when I’m running to give me that extra step or to have a dance party with my 2 year old in the kitchen 🙂

  138. Okay I may be 34 years old AND mostly known as Jack & Joeys mom but lately I’m digging my urban side with Nicki Minaj Starships (and Pound the Alarm) ….I seriously feel the need to fist pump at least once while running : ) and jamming to this song!!

  139. My running playlist is WAY different than what I would normally listen to (Pop vs. Alternative) but I feel like the faster beat helps me along during a run.

Right now my favorite is “starships” by Nicki Manaj.

  140. loving reading through these comments…my playlist is growing like crazy. Lately I’ve been stuck in a rut listening to the Stanford Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders podcasts in an attempt to multitask grad school and maintaining a running schedule…even got 2 of them in during the St.Paul Monster Dash 10 mile!

  141. I have 2 favorites…both by Maroon 5 (I have a small crush on Adam Levine). “Payphone” and “Move Like Jagger.” I like both the originals as well as the “dance mix” versions. My 6 year old son also loves “Starships” and sings it LOUD and PROUD!

  142. Low by Flo Rida, or Super Disco Breakin by Beastie Boys, both are guilty pleasures that I don’t listen to when my family is around.

  143. Latey I can’t get enough of Everything But the Girl’s Lullaby of Clubland. And I’m loving Metric’s Youth Without Youth!

  144. Honestly, I mostly listen to podcasts when I run – NPR and running podcasts (another mother runner included, of course!). Not very hip of me, eh? When I race I listen to music. My fav 5k song is Ke$ha’s “Blow,” which is more cheezy than hip, but it makes me run fast. My fav half marathon song is Eminem’s “Till I Collapse” – I always try to plan it so it plays at mile 12.

  145. I can’t get Jump On It by Sugar Hill Gang out of my head. It was playing at a post race party and there was a guy in a Batman costume rocking it! Now I want it on my playlist just for the memory of that race and watching Batman dance. 🙂

  146. ’22’ on Taylor Swift’s new album Red. I love that I can sing along to it with my 13 year old and it makes me feel young and gives her a good image of what being 22 is really like. 🙂

  147. It’s a toss-up. Either “Rockstar” by Nickelback or “Some Nights” by Fun. I may or may not have blown a speaker from one or both of these. I’m pleading the 5th. 🙂

  148. Dying Day by Brandi Carlile!!!! I was totally rockin’ out to that while doing dishes yesterday!!! And just about anything else from that album or that artist, too. Brandi Carlile is AWESOME! — I have tiny ears, so it is uber hard to find ear buds that fit anywhere close. I usually don’t/can’t wear them, just because I still haven’t found the perfect ones that don’t hurt. Maybe these will do the trick! 🙂 (Plus, I could use a little push to get out the door for a run in the cold!)

  149. More by Usher and 50 Ways to Say Goodbye by Train are two of my current favorites!

**I’m also a big audiobook fan. For shorter runs, I usually do music. Anything longer and I listen to a book.

  150. The treadmill I use has a tv attached. I don’t listen to music because I don’t have an ipod or any music thing (want one though). I love getting to the gym and watching Friends on the treadmill 🙂 My earbuds are broken though and are cutting my ear, but I’m still using them….so I’d LOVEEEE to win 🙂

  151. Gotta give a shout out to my girl Hoda Kotb and go with Low by FloRida and T-Pain! I LOVE it when that song comes on during a run! Definitely motivates me!

  152. I feel hip when I listen to Bandz A Make Her Dance by Juicy J featuring Lil Wayn and 2 Chainz (thanks to my 14-yr-old son, I’m very familiar with this hip hop/rap song)!

  153. The one song that always puts me in the mood for a run is: Parallel Universe from Red Hot Chili Peppers. It’s an old school version of hip, but hip, nonetheless.

  154. I love all music but I am a Country Girl and country music is my favorite!! Right now while running my favorite song is “Tornado” by Litte Big Town……cuz I’m coming after you!!

  155. Please do yourself a favor, please buy Ray Charles “What’d I say” on itunes and try it on during your next run. I promise if you even think about slowing down or being sluggish it is physically impossible. This song is amazing to run to.

  156. Mr saxobeat has been the one I’ve been replaying a lot lately….it’s a little repetitive but it’s very “happy!”

  157. Carly Rae Jepson and Owl City – “Good time”. It’s my ringtone right now and my go to get your ass in gear running song!

  158. I am an NPR devotee and very rarely know what’s on the radio rotation. However, I am in love, love, love with Alex Clare’s “Too Close.” Such a great beat (and erases the embarrassment I had when I realized that a song I was bee-bopping to was by the Beibs).

  159. Beautiful Day by U2 – I picture myself in a start corral with the sun rising everytime I hear it – no matter where I am in my run 🙂

  160. Firework by Katy Perry literally made me pump my fists in the air one morning as I rounded the last corner of a long run. I also LOVE when Cowboy by Kid Rock comes on!

  161. I am currently loving the top song on your Shazzam list… “Madness” by Muse. However, I must confess that the last song I bought for my running mix was “Jump Around” by House of Pain. Since it was a hit back in 1992, how old does that make me;)

  162. Okay, so it isn’t necessarily “hip,” but I like the testosterone boost that Pitbull’s “Pass at Me” gives.

  163. the Black Keys (Little Black Submarine!) are what I own up to listening to when around hip people 🙂 the rest of the time, mostly oldies but goodies, madonna, bon jovi, nirvana, shakira…

  164. Podcast listener while running, too, and definitely not hip with the NPR podcasts, though Another Mother Runner podcasts are far cooler. Listened to the soundtrack to Slumdog Millionaire while running one time, and enjoyed it, but the voice of Ira Glass really gets me moving.

  165. Blow Me One Last Kiss – Pink. It helps me finish my runs strong. It’s like I’m telling those miles I’m done, I beat you!

  166. I’ll be honest, I had a list of songs I wanted to download on my computer desk….and one of my kids must have gotten ahold of it. For real. Um…so I suggest some CeCe Winans songs.

  167. Walking on a Dream – Empire of the Sun (Is this cool enough?)

“We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me”

  168. You HAVE GOT to listen to Sam and the Womp “Bom Bom”…it is awesome to run to!!! (And as far as I can tell, it is very new, so you will feel on the cutting edge! lol!)

  169. Current fave… I Will Wait by Mumford and Sons. Old but good faves… This Is Why We Fight by the Decemberists and Dog Days are Over by Florence + The Machine. Even if I don’t win, I’m going to buy these earbuds… I ghave wasted so much money looking for the perfect ones!!

  170. I am currently in L-O-V-E w/ 3 songs that get some fuel back in the proverbial tank when I feel so firmly stuck on “empty”:
    “Moves Like Jagger” Maroon 5
    “Sun Children” Nickodemus
    “Chelsea Dagger” Fratellis

But to be honest, I’m usually chugging along listening to “The Moth” podcast. Listening to people talk about the insurmountable odds they’ve over come makes running that last mile or hitting the hills seem like child’s play.

  171. Neon Trees, “everybody talks” My 4 y.o. calls it “everybody makes too much noise” and my older 2 kids love it too.
But to really get me taking off, Kid Rock “Cowboy” is the song that makes my BRF mad because fr some reason I take off like a mad dash when that song comes on…

  172. My Nike+ Powersong is “Stonger” by Kelly Clarkson…but some more recent favs are “Finally Found You” by Enrique Iglesias and “I Cry” by Flo-Rida. And almost anything featuring Pit Bull makes my list!

  173. Ain’t Nothing Wrong with That by Robert Randolph & The Family Band. No idea how I found this song, but it makes it onto every running playlist I make!

  174. Hmmm I don’t think I’m even remotely hip, I mostly listen to country music. Pontoon & Takin Pills are my recent favorites.

  175. My playlist is VERY diverse. Right now The Wind by Zac Brown Band is kind of like a slap on the a$# to pick up my pace when I’m running.

  176. Lady Gaga’s born this way
b/c that’s what my teenaged kids are listening to, so I overhear it even if I don’t want to

  177. I am in love with the new Adele song, SkyFall. It’s the theme song for the new James Bond movie. There is just something about the tone of the song that puts me into a groove!

  178. NERD ALERT: On long runs I listen to NPR podcasts! But my playlist has everything from Katy Perry to Bruce Springsteen to…oh geez, see? I don’t even know the artists! I rely on Pandora’s “Glee” station to tune me into current pop tunes, and it generally doesn’t disappoint.

  179. Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen! It was playing on repeat during a particularly tough race and totally got me through!

  180. “Right Now” by Van Halen reminds me to be in the moment.
“Where would you rather be than right here, right now?” – Marv Levy

  181. This is now past dorky but my 4 year old son and I am are loving the Call me Maybe song. We sing it. We watch all the videos. We think it is funny and fun and makes us dance no matter what we are doing.

  182. My daughters and I love “Party Like It’s Not (Your Birthday)” by Allstar Weekend. Random dance parties have occurred because of this song while in the car and while on the run! I really have to control myself when I run on the ‘mill at the gym since I tend to sing this particular song VERY loudly =)

  183. When I’m about half way through my run, I love when “Til I Collapse” by Eminem comes on. It just gets me pumped to finish strong!

  184. I’m not a runner but a walker. I’ve been listening to Decyfer Down, Jeremy Camp, and Alistair Frasier and Natalie Haas (Violin/Cello). thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

    tenderholts at gmail dot com

  185. I realize it will never make me hip, but my favorite running song is Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard. The most fun was when it came on at the end of a race benefitting the American Diabetes Association.

  186. My Time by Fabolous & Jeremith- Loso’s Way album

“I’m gonna put it on the line- It’s my time- guess what time it is? My time…I don’t even need a watch, I don’t even see a clock, soon as I walk in it feels like me-o-clock…”

Great reminder that it’s “me-time” when I’m out on the trail

  187. Love mmmmmmmmmmmmmadness by Muse and Diamonds by Rhiana. SBS always has the best playlists… looking forward to your newest playlist as MUSIC is a must! ps, SBS totally got my hooked on yarbuds, they really are the best, looking forward to getting the “girlie” ones.

  188. I am not much a music fan, but I used Shazam to identify a song on the radio for me the other day that I really liked. It was “I Will Wait” by Mumford and Sons.

  189. I’m loving Let It Rock (Kevin Rudolf) and Carry On (Fun)right now. I’m looking forward to revisting the comments on this thread for playlist ideas! Thanks for the giveaway!

  190. I don’t think of myself as “hip”. I guess if anything makes me “hip” it would be that my music tastes are so all over the place – I am just as happy listening to Flo Rida as I am Matchbox 20 or Gipsy Kings.

  191. I don’t listen to much current music. I still love my 80’s and 90’s tunes. One of my faves is “Guilty” by Gravity Kills. Always gets me moving.

  192. M83’s song “Midnight City” — totally pumps me up. Highly recommend their whole “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming” album!!

  193. I love the stray cats! And listen to them while running outside. However, now that it is getting colder, i tend to listen to books while on treadmill or eliptical. It helps me to not hear the kids talking around me at the high school gym I work out in. So non-hip!!!

  194. It makes me feel hip that I’ve had the entire David Guetta album on my playlist for months, current fave: Sweat with Snoop Dogg – the beat gets my run going.

And I’m on my 3rd pair of earbuds this year – I need something that stays in place and doesn’t hurt!

  195. Wild Flag-Romance is my current favorite running tune. But others high on the list are Gwen Stefani-Hollaback Girl, Janelle Monae-Tightrope, Roisin Murphy-Ramalama Bang Bang.

  196. current favorite is my weeding dance mix that a friend create that takes me make to college and my wedding, so I can completely get lost instead of dwelling on the various number of miles still to run.

  197. I am so not hip. I usually jog with a running partner or my toddler in tow and don’t listen to music. When I do, the music I’m listening to in my iPhone is a few years old – unless my husband has been kind enough to download a Starbucks freebie :). I have been known to embarrass my two older kids with belting out ‘call me maybe’ or Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”.

  198. I am an athletic trainer, right now I am staying home with my son. So on Friday nights with playoffs season just around the corner I sing Boy’s of Fall by Kenny Chesney! It reminds me of all the games I have worked and my athletes!

  199. I don’t really know what is hip anymore, but my favorites are Mumford and Sons, Carrie Underwood, Lumineers, and Fun. I don’t listen to music when running but when cooking and cleaning that’s what I listen too. 🙂

  200. Home by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros. Even though I am running away from home/ and the craziness of life in a sense, it reminds me how much I love my family and as long as we are together nothing else matters!

  201. Love this post for all of the new music ideas! Current favorite: Let’s Go by Calvin Harris. Always faithful: Lose Yourself by Eminem. Never fails to get me motivated. Holiday favorite: Run Rudolph Run by Chuck Berry.

  202. I would say the song that has been helping me go that extra mile is “I Just Wanna Run” by The Downtown Fiction. 🙂

  203. Can’t think of a single tune. These days I switch back & forth between two Pandora stations: Classic Rock & Dave Matthews Band!

  204. Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men, Animal by Neon Trees, and Howlin’ for You by The Black Keys. These are my current favorites. Thanks for the chance to win!

  205. My ipod and brand new yurbuds were lost in the Atlanta Airport, so I currently don’t have anything new and hip to get me through a run 🙁 Still trying to fiugre out how to get my itunes on my BB..However I’m a fan of Hit me Like a Bomb from 3rd day. A have a mix of contemporary Christian, rock, and country. When I start to question my sanity for running, the Christian songs snap me out of it..I do it because I can.

  206. Bruno Mars Locked out of Heaven!Quick pace, fun song,he can SING!
Another fave which is more outside the box is Straight to Number One by Touch and Go.Hot song with a quick beat.

  207. Never have felt hip when it comes to my knowledge of songs, but I did get a lift from my niece’s finance who said, “Your aunts are so cool — they know every song!” (Apparently one can fake it til they make it!)

Song that won’t leave my head: Fireflies by Owl City — it’s been stuck there for years. 🙂

  208. First of all… I LOVE yurbuds. I keep stealing my husbands for my runs. It would be nice to have a pair of my own.
My newest addition to my running playlist that I love to sing to as I run is 50 Ways to Say Goodbye by Train. I realize that this song and my tendency to sing while running does not make me hip, but it makes me happy.

  209. I am sooooooo not hip when it comes to music (I am pretty sure my kids sent in the suggestion for Bowling For Soup’s “1985”) but I guess as close as I am coming these days is P!nk’s “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).

  210. I really like all types of music when I run so I have a hard time pinpointing my favorite…..I’ll list my top 5 in no particular order:
    1. Pirates of the Carribean Main Theme (instrumental)
    2. Beyonce “Halo”
    3. Maroon 5 “Payphone”
    4. Taylor Swift “Never Getting Back Together”
    5. The Darkness “I Believe in a Thing Called Love”

  211. Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal always gets me pumped up! I have my ipod on shuffle and when it comes on I always feel like, “Okay Riki, time to pick it up and run like a badass”. 🙂

  212. I love to listen to Mumford and sons and Amos Lee. They remind me of my once “hip” days sitting on my front porch drinking a beer and hanging out with my neighbors. Good times.

  213. It may be a couple of years old but Beyonce’s Girls Run the World gets my blood pumping. I also keep SticMan’s The Workout album in heavy rotation when I run.

  214. My Oh My by Tristan Prettyman! “Just when I thought I was free…
Knock knock the door is locked but you still got a key…” =D

  215. I love Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. The tune is really upbeat and fun! Sometimes I just put it on repeat to keep my pace up!

  216. I’ve been listening to “The Fighter” by Gym Class Heroes. When I’m running and feeling like I can’t take another step IT PUMPS ME UP!! Love this song right now 🙂

  217. I just got a new car with Bluetooth and all I had on my phone was my running playlist. My five year old daughter is now rocking out to the Ramones, Pink, Fountains of Wayne and Glee, among others. And she knows all the words to Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite”. But I know I am not up on new music when I get introduced to it through kids bop and glee.

  218. Scream by Usher makes me run fast! Also, Saturday was my first half marathon. At the suggestion of a friend I added Kickstart My Heart by Mötley Crüe. It came on at mile 11 and pumped me up to a strong finish!

  219. The Great Escape by Pink on her new album!! A slow one that reminds me of the importance of supporting others and being kind to where “I am” as a new mom 🙂

  220. 50 Ways To Say Goodbye by Train – it gets me running faster or dancing in the kitchen every time. It also makes me laugh and the kids love it, too. How can you not love the line, “got run over by a crappy purple Scion”?

  221. I don’t usually run to music, but one song that really gets me going whether I’m in the car, working, or just whatever is “Life is a Highway”, the Rascal Flatts version from the Disney Cars movie soundtrack! It really pumps me up! I’m going to have to start listening to something for my upcoming 20+ milers and this will definitely be on the playlist!

  222. “I Will Wait” by Mumford & Sons. It reminds me of a trip to Dublin last year. It also reminds me of my 6 year old son playing the air banjo. The fast pace sections and the memories it inspires are priceless and I can get through a tough run with a smile!

  223. I listen to Another Mother Runner Podcasts when I am lifting weights at the gym. People probably think I am crazy when I start to giggle and nod my head in agreement.
I am listening to “Reggae Music” by Jimmy Cliff and “Say Hey (I Love You) by Micheal Franti % Spearheads. Fun Fun Music to listen too!

  224. I have been rocking out to Some Nights by FUN. lately. Every time it comes on my kids say mommmy here is your song. LOVE it!

  225. She’s a Bad Mama Jama
    by Carl Carlton

    Yeah
    Ooh
    Ooh…ooh…hoo
    Look at her

    She’s a bad mama jama
Just as fine as she can be, hey
    She’s a bad mama jama
Just as fine as she can be

  226. I love some old school rap while I’m running! Gets me pumped up every time. But, this week, my “power” song is “All I Do is Win” (DJ Khaled). Don’t know why, but it gets me fired up!

  227. Well, I’m definitely not hip but whenever “Some Nights” comes on it gets me moving not matter what. I can be in a bad mood and when I hear it, I cheer up. Great beat to it.

  228. I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who listens to audiobooks while running! I’m currently listening to The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. When I do listen to music, it’s usually country… anything with a good beat.

  229. Pump up the Jam by Technotronic gets me up to the top of Mt. Tabor every time. Seriously, get your booty on the dance floor!

    Pump up the jam
    Pump it up
    While your feet are stompin’
    And the jam is pumpin’
Look at here the crowd is jumpin’
Pump it up a little more
Get the party going on the dance floor

  230. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift. Not sure why I like that song, but it’s pretty catchy. 🙂

  231. I love the new Maroon 5 song “One More Night”! and I love the Taylor Swift song “Never Getting Back Together!” both make me happy and remember the drama! of high school dating!

  232. I have a range of 80’s – Bon Jovi, ACDC Back in Black, some 90’s and some current. Love the new Pink song too! And I sooooooo need those headphones for my upcoming Half! Thanks for the great giveaways!

  233. New fav is “Good Time” by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepson. It makes me feel young because it’s a bit teeny bopper-y.

  234. Some Nights by Fun. I love banging the beat on the steering wheel and when I was training for my first marathon I almost broke out in song as I ran on the trail during my long run. I can’t figure out all the words but that just adds to the embarrassment by 16 year old feels as I sing away!!!!

  235. I LOVE Alicia Keys new song “ Girl on Fire!” It has been my new “anthem song” when I am putting in the miles running alone or with my son in the old running stroller. I have added it recently to the end of my playlist for races and it seems to give me that extra PUSH to just keep on going , You can DO IT!
I started running to stay in shape and keep after my three year old, I never stopped so I know it’s these types of songs and music that keep my fuel pumping! Because I have both feet on the ground and I am NOT backing down! 🙂

  236. My punk rock loving husband groans each time he logs into his itunes account when I have been downloading for a new race day playlist. (Which last time I totally used your lists on this page for inspiration). I am embarrassed to say that Gangnam style really does get me moving.. though I know it does not make me hip. Also, my 2 year old and 5 year old love to dance to it, so I can conjure up their cute moves while I am running!

  237. I love the beats and the message of never giving up in the song by Eminem – Lose Yourself! Another fave is Outkast – Hey Ya! (One of my favorite lines is, “Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor!”)

  238. As a 31 year old teeny bopper I like to listen to “Call Me Maybe” its so much fun to dance to and makes me think of the Olympics because the swim team made that video to it.

  239. Titanium by David Guetta and Sia. The words make me feel strong while the beat is a great pick-me up at the end of my runs when I am starting to slow down. I’m strong, I’m fierce, I’m Titanium. 😉

  240. My playlist is so so so random and eclectic. The song that made me smile most though during my recent half (and helped me PR and get under the 2:00 mark) was Tu vuo fa l’Americano – which I added after a recent trip to Italy. The original, not the Pauly D version =)

  241. I love Club Can’t Handle Me by Flo Rida. I just love turning up the volume when it comes on. I always pick up the pace when that is on. I have four small kids so the only time I can really listen to it is when I am running with my earphones. That is one I don’t need them singing along to! 🙂

  242. “Quiet Little Voices” by We Were Promised Jetpacks! It’s fast and fun and always gets me back up to speed when I’m lagging. “Quiet little voices creep into my head / I’m young again / I’m young again / I’m young again / I’m young again”… Exactly how I feel when I run.

  243. Same as Haley Ho Hey Lumineers and Imagine Dragon. My son (7.5) heard Imagine Dragon in the car, then we both heard it at starbucks, and then it came on my pandora playlist – so I had to get it! Looking forward to seeing all the responses since I need to refresh my playlists also.

  244. Lately I’m liking “Some Nights” by Fun. I also like “Madness” by Muse. Those are the newest songs on my playlist and always give me an extra boost of speed!!

  245. Because I have a “tween” girl, my go to song these days is “You don’t know you’re beautiful” by One Direction. It just makes me happy!

  246. I am a huge dork and have some show tunes on my phone – When I hear “popular” from wicked I always get a smile on my face. But when I want to get moving fast, latin music always helps me pick up my pace

  247. I rarely listen to music when I run, the ear buds I have drive me nuts, ok, they aren’t even mine, they are my teen age son’s! I do love music though, my current favorite song is a toss up between, ‘Me without You’ by TobiMac or ‘Losing’ by Tenth Ave North.

  248. My hip music these days is pretty much anything from the new P!nk album, Mumford & Sons or The Civil Wars. And music is such an important part of my life – truly the soundtrack of my soul so I love this post!! I may not always be hip, and my kids might sometimes ask “what in the world are you listening to????” but nothing else gets me going like a great song!

Oh and my un-hipness is truly personified by the fact that I absolutely LOVE running to big band music. Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, Duke…good stuff right there!

  249. One of my favorite running songs is “Moving in the right direction” by Robert Randolph and and family band. It has a great beat for running, and a positive message.

I could use these earbuds as I just ruined the ones I currently have. I have a stress fracture in my right foot and am wearing one of those horrible orthopedic boots. However, if everything heals properly, I should be able to begin running again in January. So I really hope I win the earbuds!

  250. I don’t listen to anything while I run….except IRL nature! But I do listen to my IPOD while cleaning, and I like Bob Schneider or Charlie Mars! They both make me laugh while I’m grovin and scrubbin!! 🙂

  251. I guess I’m showing my age with this one, but I love running to “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” by Journey. This one always motivates me!

  252. Stronger by Kelly Clarkson, Home by Phillip Phillips, all Imagine Dragon. Now I’m going to go find some of these songs everybody is talking about!

  253. Another freak who listens to books on my ipod! Currently listening to Justin Cronin, The Twelve! Totally out of the music scene! Not cool at all.

  254. I absolutely love Christmas music (and normally end up playing it way too soon for my family). I finally found some good jogging music that meets my Christmas needs. Trans Siberian Orchestra: Wizards in Winter.

    1. I LOVE THAT SONG! Thanks for the reminder. I used to play it over and over (and over). Here’s to better times coming up.

  255. I also love “Some Nights” by Fun. Although, when I first heard the song I didn’t know who sang it. My 6 year old had to tell me.

  256. I have a ton of songs that I love to run to by my two absolute favorites are Stronger by Kelly Clarkson and Danza Kuduro by Don Omar (from 2Fast 2Furious). Stronger makes me feel, well, stronger. Danza Kuduro has a great upbeat that makes me smile just listening to it.

  257. Some Nights by FUN
    Diamonds by Rihanna
And the new Train song – 50 ways to say goodbye – cracks me up everytime!

  258. It’s not a new song but our family is still hooked on “I’m Sexy and I Know It”. My toddler busts into that song at any given moment …… like while we were in line at the WI Dells for the 8pm Tommy Bartlett Show. Awkward but everyone thought it was hysterical!

  259. “Crazy Bitch” by Buck Cherry. The lyrics are a little racy, but the music gets me moving!!

I also love to listen to the Manic Mommies podcast.
