Hi everyone! Returned on Sunday from the dental convention in Phoenix, something about this event just doesn't get me too excited .........not that any conferences are all that exciting, LOL. I haven't attended in YEARS but it's been held downtown since I could remember, and downtown PHX during the day is DEAD!! It's catered towards nighttime festivities but most people tend to enjoy the Tempe downtown area. But it tends to be crowded w/ older middle-age men (pretending to drink coffee on patios) eye-googling the ASU college girls swarming the downtown on any given night. It's really weird!! Anyway, I did meet up w/ some ex-students of mine, and it was such a HUGE surprise to run into a very dear friend who moved to/lives in CA and became a Naturopathic physician. And also, she became a mother, her four month old son was w/ grandmother so I didn't get a chance to squeeze his chubby cheeks, he's adorable and a happy baby in the photos. I missed my friend and we visited during lunch each day. Definitely will be making a trip to CA to visit her and run a trail race!! 🙂 I was up early each day, driving in traffic (ugh), took me about an hour from DD's home to the convention, then again after. Just had enough energy to eat a light dinner and was in bed by 9 each night. On Saturday, I met DD/SIL for dinner and drinks and we stayed out VERY LATE!! It was fun but I really blew off any running I had planned for the weekend!! Anyway, I left Sunday after having late breakfast w/ DD. I did put on my running gear.......just in case I felt like running when I got home. Once I got to Flagstaff, I drove to a trailhead, took a 20 minute nap!! HA!! Then, ran an easy 5 miler!! YAY!! I actually felt good afterwards and the next day, Monday, rested. So today, I hope to run at least 8 miles. Rest tomorrow. On Thursday, the women trail running group are getting together so I am so excited about seeing them/running with them again.
Nancy: The Vegas RocknRoll night time event sounds awesome! It's a little pricey for me and it's a road race but I hope you get to experience it!! Where else might you go during that time? I'm only 5 hrs away, LOL!! Grand Canyon is closer though, haha!! I'm so glad your dad is adjusting and doing ok. My dad is not doing too well. I (and my siblings) have to discuss/meet with the doctors about our dad's health status. My dad doesn't realize/understand that if he doesn't share, the doctors can't help him much. My mom is ok but they are both in their 80s and my dad has become more difficult to manage. That is wonderful on the house too!! Things are moving along, that really takes away much of the stress. Hope you get in your 11 on Saturday.
Erica: You sound like a driving machine, from one end of the state to another!! Your training runs looks like it's right on schedule despite a couple of missed ones. WOW!! 15 miles, way to go!! Some runs are just about putting one foot after another. Mental toughness in training!!
Lisa: 'lost of mojo' ........tell me about it!! It's frustrating right? I felt that way from Oct to Feb but it will 'spring' back!! The walking doesn't sound like a 'walk in the park' though, you're doing something! This is where walk/run/walk came in handy for me.
Jana: I'm wondering how the weather is 'up there' lately so I can plan my return drive to MN, haha!!........I'm lost without you, LOL!! DH's forecast is always 'way off'.
