Vancouver Marathon 2013 Playlist

Alicia Keys: One of several strong women accompanying me on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, as I was putting together this playlist, my 11-year-old daughter, Phoebe, took a break from arguing with her brother to ask me suddenly, "Momma, what's your goal for your marathon?" An astute question from a child I feel doesn't pay much attention to my running exploits. "3:38-4:08," I replied. "No, wait, my goal is for my knee to let me run strong."

To that end, I put together my usual style marathon playlist: inspiring lyrics, song titles, or band names (check out the first band) in the first quarter, then getting progressively faster and more upbeat as it goes along. You'll find some of my favorites--Flo Rida, Nelly, and Enrique Iglesias--but a few new artists and songs as well. I trust this playlist--and my slightly bum leg--will serve me well.
