With great excitement—including giddy hand-flapping and prancing in place—Another Mother Runner invites you and your best running-friends to our first-ever AMR Retreat: Run + Refresh. (Oooh, even just typing those words gives me—SBS—almost the same fluttery feeling I had the first time I saw the blue, positive lines on a pregnancy test!!) This women's running retreat happens April 16 to 19, 2015. Hosted by Capital Hotel, a delightfully luxurious boutique hotel dubbed "the front porch of the South" in Little Rock, Arkansas, this weekend will make the AMR virtual community reality.
This on-your-feet retreat will start with daily group runs (yes, morning runs, but not too early since this is a getaway). During the day, numerous learning sessions and gear sampling aimed at making you a stronger, smarter, more balanced runner will be offered by Dimity, coach Christine Hinton, a sports dietician, other dynamic experts, and myself.
Plan to visit the William J. Clinton Library and Museum with me, experience "southern comfortable" (it's kinda like Dimity's Minnesota nice, but with an accent), enjoy make-a-foodie-drool cuisine, and discover the best-kept-secret of the South, Little Rock. (If you need convincing, listen to me rave about this gem of a city on this AMR podcast.) All throughout the retreat, you'll have a chance to demo innovative running products, hang out with other women runners, and fan the flames of your running spark.
There are several options from which to choose—a 4-day/3-night package; 3-day/2-night option; and a day pass for local runners (within 50-mile radius of Little Rock). (Please note: Airfare is not included in prices.) Thursday evening extends the theme of "refresh" to "refreshments" with drinks and hors d'oeuvres with my "sister from Another Mother Runner," Dimity, and me. Friday kicks off with a run along the Arkansas River, then segues into four learning sessions, time to explore Little Rock, and wraps up with a trolley ride to the beloved Dunbar Garden for a relaxed, yet elegant, farm-to-fork dinner. (Don't fret local Little Rock mother runners, tickets are available for purchase to the Dunbar dinner—we'd love to have you join us!)
Saturday is chock-full of all things good and wonderful: a morning run; local and AMR experts leading informative, entertaining sessions; and BAMR camaraderie-building. That full, fun, and enlightening day culminates with us getting goofy in a photo booth, then heading out on the town. We've saved the tastiest breakfast—ever—for Sunday morning with wrap-up sessions you will not want to miss. (Plan your travel accordingly!) We know it's a lot to digest (and I'm not just talking the insanely scrumptious grits for Sunday breakfast that make me drool every time I think of 'em!), so here's a visual layout of the schedule. We can't wait to run and refresh with you at Capital Hotel in Little Rock: You'll return home from the AMR Run + Refresh retreat feeling your running anything but "routine."
