Forums: Connect with Another Mother Runner

A huge, sweaty welcome to the another mother runner forums, an exclusive but inclusive—that makes sense, right?—place to connect, chat, ask, analyze, and dream big with other runners. The beauty of this running forum is that, unlike our Facebook page, the status updates don’t float by in less than a day. Here they are, accessible whenever you need the 411.

Anything is game here: questions about training, nutrition, sports bras, leaking on the run, whatever. Two categories we think are pretty cool: a match.com for mother runners, where you can find a BRF (best running friend) and free gear swap, a place to find a home for your newish gear you never use. (The recipient pays only for shipping; thank you in advance for respecting this rule.)

So whatever you've got—IT band problems; stroller questions; a picture-perfect race; shoe issues—lay it on the collective us. If you'd like to nominate a category we forgot, email us at runmother [at] gmail [dot] com. We're all here to push each other across the finish line again and again.

How the day looked on my New Year's Day run. Tolerable temps, light snow fall that changed to freezing rain, cloudy all day.

Still sideways, hmmmm. Will need to figure that out.
Anyway, not much has changed on how this area looks..... except we have TONS of snow.

Front of our house, last weekend. DH removed all that snow off the roof which is now a frozen blob. Probably won't melt till May 😯

From the Grand Canyon hike with my SIL, Sept 2019.

1. On the way down on S Kaibab trail.

2. Taking a rest stop, looking down at Colorado River. Phantom Ranch is on the right side. That is where we are headed. And then we are crossing the steel bridge on our return hike towards Indian Garden and the Bright Angel trail.

3. Temp reading at Indian Garden. 😮

1 and 2. This is the Saturday's running group that I meet up with now and then in AZ. Men and women. During winter months, we carpooled to Sedona area and run with a group there. Not my fave b/c many of the trails are busy with tourists.

3. Ewww!! LOL!! But this is the darn blister under my right foot that has been a constant annoyance. It heals into a huge thick quarter sized callous which really affects my gait when it blisters, very irritating. I have to remove it before my runs and races which really helps but then the cycle begins .....it heals, callous, repeat....... My right foot has all the blisters: sides of my big toe and outside my small toe also blisters. ugh!!

Photos from Cedro Peak trail marathon, east of Albq NM, April 2019.
This is the one where I, another female runner and a male runner (who left us) took a wrong turn. We found our way back and finished but not without making sure my new found RB didn't quit on me!!
I hope to run the 50k next year. I will not get lost this time, LOL!!
Trail has it all, technical, rocky, hills, dirt roads, few flat areas, awesome aid station volunteers, beautiful scenic views!!

Darn it .... the last photo still posted sideways. I rotated it before posting from files. Will still work on how to correct that for future pics.

From the Jemez Mt run, 25K (15 miler), Los Alamos, NM. Glad I switched from 50k to 15 miler, this one kicked my butt. I showed up and finished though. I would like to run it again.

1. Start and finish area.
2. The LOOONNGG climb..... and this is only the beginning. Trail turns right and another LONG climb.

June 2019 - The Deadwood Mickelson trail marathon in Deadwood, South Dakota.
Very scenic but this was the MOST BORING race I have ever run, I think.
I could have just run a road marathon.
I lost interest around mile 6. This was ENDLESS, omg!!
Never again.
This is the "trail" for most of the race except for maybe 1 mile around mile 20. The dirt road was kinda rutted from the rain and made it FUN for a few minutes.
The "trail" mostly followed the main highway as you can see in last photo. Highway is on the right.
