Forums: Connect with Another Mother Runner

A huge, sweaty welcome to the another mother runner forums, an exclusive but inclusive—that makes sense, right?—place to connect, chat, ask, analyze, and dream big with other runners. The beauty of this running forum is that, unlike our Facebook page, the status updates don’t float by in less than a day. Here they are, accessible whenever you need the 411.

Anything is game here: questions about training, nutrition, sports bras, leaking on the run, whatever. Two categories we think are pretty cool: a match.com for mother runners, where you can find a BRF (best running friend) and free gear swap, a place to find a home for your newish gear you never use. (The recipient pays only for shipping; thank you in advance for respecting this rule.)

So whatever you've got—IT band problems; stroller questions; a picture-perfect race; shoe issues—lay it on the collective us. If you'd like to nominate a category we forgot, email us at runmother [at] gmail [dot] com. We're all here to push each other across the finish line again and again.

I live in Nebraska and started to run this year. Since the temps have dropped below 30, I've been wearing layers and my old snowboarding jacket. It's a bit big and boxy and would love to spend some of my Christmas money on a running jacket.

If it's dips much below 10 degrees, I'll probably stay inside. I did 14 degrees with a good wind the other day and was okay, other than needing another layer for my legs.

What are your favorites?

I have Under Armour Coldgrear compression tights, anything recommended to go along with that for another layer?

Thanks!!

Jana

I have the brooks running jacket (I think it is the nightlife, but it is a couple years old.) It is just a light windbreaker but it layers well. I have a couple pairs of winter weight tights and if it is really cold I wear the Ibex breakaway pants over the top (I got them on a really good sale a couple years ago. I just checked them on the ibex site - yeesh!)

I think a light pair of windbreaker pants with some good winter weight tights would probably work well for you at the 10 above range.

I love my ALO yoga clothes for the workouts. They usually provide awesome quality and the range of their clothes for the winter as well as summer clothes is quite decent. So you can pick really pretty apparels from them for any season. I recently bought summer leggings and tank tops which are totally amazing.
