Forums: Connect with Another Mother Runner

A huge, sweaty welcome to the another mother runner forums, an exclusive but inclusive—that makes sense, right?—place to connect, chat, ask, analyze, and dream big with other runners. The beauty of this running forum is that, unlike our Facebook page, the status updates don’t float by in less than a day. Here they are, accessible whenever you need the 411.

Anything is game here: questions about training, nutrition, sports bras, leaking on the run, whatever. Two categories we think are pretty cool: a for mother runners, where you can find a BRF (best running friend) and free gear swap, a place to find a home for your newish gear you never use. (The recipient pays only for shipping; thank you in advance for respecting this rule.)

So whatever you've got—IT band problems; stroller questions; a picture-perfect race; shoe issues—lay it on the collective us. If you'd like to nominate a category we forgot, email us at runmother [at] gmail [dot] com. We're all here to push each other across the finish line again and again.

Hi Ladies!

I have been looking into a Fitbit/Garmin Viofit (those are the two I narrowed it down to) but wondered if it really did anything better than a pedometer?

I plan on continuing with the Garmin Forerunner for runs but wanted a simple fitness tracking device for daily use. I like the idea that it can track sleep too! some of the models even wake up up during at a good time during a sleep cycle.

Any suggestions? Opinions? Reviews?

I have a fitbit and I like it for everyday. I especially like the silent alarm. I can get up early to run without waking up the whole house. Since I run anyway, the fitbit isn't much for motivation but even though I sometimes get my 10,000 step buzz before breakfast, it makes me smile anyway.

The sleep tracking is interesting but I often forget to put it into sleep mode.

One of my coworkers had a fitbit and though she loved it, it have her a rash on her wrist. This is a known issue so if you are sensitive, you might have problems with it.

I don't have any experience with the Viofit.

Hope this helps.

I have a FitBit and love that it reminds me through the day to get in a few extra steps/stairs. I have heard that the Garmin will sync so that might be a better way to go since you already have the Forerunner? Sorry not more helpful!

I have been using an masseur cellulite app that manage my workouts and track my everyday results. With the help of this app I have started doing workouts whenever I have time.
