During this era of self-quarantine, we can get by without Starbucks and manicures, but the thrill of pursuing—and reaching—a goal like a race is something us runners need.
Plus, we are most definitely looking for an excuse to get out of the house on a nearly daily basis! (“Gotta go, kids: I’m training for a 10K.”)
That’s why we are hosting a virtual race series. Four races spread out over four months, with the training and distances building on themselves. A 5K in April; a 10K in May; a 10-miler in June (cheers for a quirky distance!); and a half marathon in July. The training plans are designed by Another Mother Runner co-founder and certified running coach, Dimity McDowell.
We dubbed it Love the Run You’re With as a play on words. Obviously it’s an homage to the classic Stephen Stills’ song, but it’s also an attitude: Yes, you’ll love some runs—when the temperature is crisp, but not chilly, and the road seems to have the slightest of downhill grade (both ways!)—but there are going to be some hot, humid workouts you just need to sweat through. Just like you love the people you are surrounded by 24/7, but sometimes you just need to get through the day with your patience (semi-)intact.
