Mark Your Calendar: AMR’s 2016 Running Retreat Is Coming!

Spokane Retreat 2016 badgeHead’s up: Mark your calendar (and your BRF’s, too) in Sharpie for our 2016 AMR Retreat: Run + Refresh is set for Spokane, Washington, September 22-25.

Whether you want to rev your engine at a race, refresh your body with yoga and foam rolling, or befriend a bevy of other BRFs, you will leave feeling both runned—yes, that’s a thing—and refreshed.

Home base will be the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, a stylish, freshly renovated hotel overlooking the Spokane River. Set in the "Inland Northwest," Spokane is a running hub, home to one of the largest road races in the U.S., as well as myriad running trails. And, yes, it’s also site of the infamous slide that broke Sarah’s ankle. Despite the painful memories, Sarah is eager to return to this lovely, charming city to hang out with mother runners. (We promise, no trips down the slide—at least for SBS!)

The #motherrunner running Retreat fun starts on Thursday, September 22 and wraps up on Sunday, September 25. We’ll run, gab, laugh, eat tasty food, sleep on luxurious beds, share new workouts, showcase how to decrease the risk of running injuries (and banish those niggling aches and pains!) and increase your speed, and reinvigorate your passion for our beloved sport.

And—AND—we will be taking part in Happy Girls Spokane, an amazing all-women’s race that serves up 5K, 10K, and half-marathon options. With a course weaving through the beautiful trails of Riverside State Park and along the stunning Spokane River, Happy Girls Spokane is one of our fav races (and Sarah is the emcee!). The challenging course ensures you call on your inner grit and makes the finish line taste oh-so-much sweeter.

If you want some help with your training, the race will be the culmination of several Train Like a Mother Club Challenges, which will roll out in the next few weeks. (Challenge participation and Retreat participation are mutually exclusive, but they are like PB+J: They go best together.)

We could go on and on, but here’s the almost-Twitter-length version: Our goal is for you to leave the AMR Retreat feeling refreshed, inspired, informed, connected, supported, fired up for many more miles. Oh, and cross a finish line as a Happy Girl.

  1. Sounds wonderful….hope I can make it work with my school schedule. The last “retreat” I went on in Spokane was USAF aircrew survival school…includes 5 days in the Cascades followed by resistance training in a POW camp…the AMR one sounds better!

  2. I am heartbroken!! This is the weekend before Rock N Roll San Jose. Not sure how I can get this to work……but wanna go SO BAD!
