Last year, Train Like a Mother Ragnar Coach—and all around BAMR—Jenn Gill led our first AMR Ragnar Trail team in Alafia, Florida: the eight-women team started as strangers, camped through the night + rain, ran plenty of miles, saw a 'gator, and ended bonded as BAMRs for life.
They had such a blast, we gotta do it again. But this year, we're hitting the other coast, and offering the same opportunity—seven #motherrunners to join Coach Jenn—at Ragnar Los Coyotes, a mecca of trails in Warner Springs, California, about two hours outside of San Diego on November 9-10.
Even though these trails are rocky and don't have a ton of shade, they are really awesome to experience," says Coach Jenn, who runs trails all over California, "A good mix of smooth single track and rocky and steep sections. Runners will feel a sense of accomplishment like no other; finishing Los Coyotes will definitely emphasize the badass in BAMR."
Want to join our Ragnar Trail Los Coyotes Team? Here are the details:
We’re giving away seven spots on a team for Ragnar Trail Los Coyotes on November 9-10, 2018. We will pick seven runners and one alternate, in case something falls through.
Coach Jenn is going to be captaining the team and will help pick the runners. Winners will also receive entry into our Train Like a Mother Ragnar plan, a sampler of GU, Nuun, Balega, and other gear we love. We’re going to outfit the team, too. Each winner will get a top and trucker hat from the Mother Runner Store.
What is included in winning: Ragnar entry, 12-week Train Like a Mother Plan guided by your Captain Coach Jenn, and all the goodies mentioned above.
What is not included in winning: transportation to and from the race; hotel before or after the race; meals before, during, and after the race.
Dates: Race is November 9-10, 2018. You need to be in San Diego, CA, by noon PDT on November 8 and, depending on where you're coming from, you will likely not be able to head home until November 11.
Okay, a few more important details:
How do I enter? Write 400 words or less about why you want to run this Ragnar and email to [email protected] by July 30 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. We will announce the 7 winners + one alternate on August 6, 2018, on our website. Your 12-week Ragnar Training Plan will start on August 20.
Do I have to be a super-speedy runner?
But you do need to have some experience running trails; ideally, you run them regularly--and will have access to them as you train for this Ragnar. The red (hardest) loop of Los Coyotes has 1,700 feet of climbing and a pretty steep downhill as well. With all three loops, you'll be covering about 13.7 miles total of trail. You don't have to rip it up, but we want laughs and good memories—not sprained ankles or broken bones.
Is this contest open to mother runners from other countries?
Yup: If you can get your jet-lagged self to San Diego by noon. PDT on November 8, you and your cool passport are welcome to try to snag a spot on the team!
Can I do a joint entry with my BRF (best running friend)?
Not this year, since we only have one team. One mother runner per entry, please. (And don't worry about showing up solo. As the mother runners who joined us last year prove on a daily basis: You'll make friends quickly and meaningfully faster than you ever have in your life. That's the beauty of Ragnar.)
Get to writing, BAMRs!
