If you were hanging around the blog in late October last year, you probably heard about (and possibly participated in) our Stride through the Holidays Challenge.
In case you missed it, here's a recap: The five-week, running/strength-training program was designed to encourage the AMR tribe to keep moving throughout the holidays: as they basted turkeys, hung a wreath, lit the menorah, decorated cookies, shoveled snow, and otherwise carried on through the most festive time of the year. In this season of giving, we also wanted to spotlight Heart Strides, our non-profit partner, and, in doing so, provide an opportunity to help all moms move (by providing new running shoes and gently used exercise apparel for moms with children who are critically ill or have special needs). The entire profit of the entrance fee ($25) went directly to Heart Strides.
So, ladies, how much did you raise? More than $15,000!!!! And aside from a majorly impressive donation, you warmed the spirits of many a Heart Strides mom:
Heart Strides founder Denise Dollar explains on the organization's, site: "We all know that making our health a priority is the best gift we could give, not only to ourselves, but to those around us. With the right gear; like proper running shoes, tech shirts, running socks and community; we can help our Moms move in the right direction. Wherever they are when they lace up, they will know that they are not alone and that we are with them every step of the way!"
Congrats, tribe, on making our challenge a rocking success and helping Heart Strides help our fellow mother runners out there.
