If one could get fit by writing about training plans, editing training plans, and organizing the details of said plans, 2017 is the year I—Dimity—could qualify for Boston, Kona, finish the Leadville 100 on bike and foot, and maybe even nail a 5K PR.
In other words, the Train Like a Mother Club is stocked full of new, amazing programs for everybody from first-time 5K'ers to veteran 50 Miler'ers--and everybody in between!
Today, we're giving a brief preview of the brand spanking new programs that open for registration today. Hello, sprint triathlon! Hellooooooo, ultra program! (lots of ooooooos because UUULTRA!) Tomorrow, we're going to highlight the 10K, half-marathon, and marathon programs that will be on the docket for May, June and July races.
By the way, the coaches are just Ah-MAHZ-ing: experts, compassionate, entertaining. Like you'd want to have lunch with them just to listen to them talk. Best of all? Every one of them takes more pride in helping her athletes thrive—and push their own athletic boundaries—than in her own athletic accomplishments.
As always, please email us at [email protected] and/or comment below with questions. Thanks and happy Monday!
This 12-week run/walk plan is a great way to find—or relocate—your running groove while being supported and held accountable by #motherrunner teammates. And, of course, cross a finish line feeling like a b*d*ss #motherrunner!
Dates: February 13-June 24/25
(There are 8, 12-week waves in the first round; the waves coordinate with race-date weekends of May 6/7 through June 24/25. Check out additional, later dates here.)
Whether you’ve got your first 50K or your fourth 50 Mile teed up, this 24-week plan will get you ready for every step, every climb, every descent, every mile as you build your endurance, your body, your mind to cover 50k or 50 miles on race day!
Dates: Although we are opening registration now, the first 24-week training wave will go off on March 6, in preparation for a race the weekend of August 19-20. We will not have the plans ready until March 6 (at the latest; they may be ready earlier.)
We will, however, have the Facebook page open, so you can get to know your fellow soon-to-be ultra #motherrunners.
After Wave 1 (March 6- August 19-20: race weekend) goes off, we can train anybody for a race through the end of December 2017.
We have identified The North Face San Francisco (Likely December 2-3; Marathon + 50K + 50 Mile) as a Potential Target Race. Target races are races where we will have a critical mass of #motherrunners, and Coach Stephanie and Dimity will be in attendance; once we have it solidified, we will let you know. That said, you do not have to race at the target race; we can train you for any race around the world.
This 12-week program is designed for beginner to intermediate triathletes who have their sights set on an Sprint distance race (swim: .5 mile/750m; bike 12.4 miles/20K; run: 3.1 miles/5K). There are 8-10 weekly workouts (3 swims, 2-3 rides, 2-3 runs, 1-2 strength training sessions) that build a strong, capable foundation to go the distance in all three disciplines. The workouts are far from basic: nearly every ride and run has skill or speed development, while the pool workouts are rarely repeated.
If you are a more experienced triathlete going for a time goal or simply want more time in your weaker discipline, there are periodic optional sessions that can be easily added to enhance your preparation.

This 22-week program is designed for beginner to intermediate triathletes who have their sights set on a Half-Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run). There are 9-11 weekly workouts (2-3 swims, 3 rides, 3 runs, 1-2 strength training sessions) that build a strong, capable foundation to go the distance in all three disciplines. The workouts are far from basic: nearly every ride and run has skill or speed development, while the pool workouts are rarely repeated.
Dates: We are looking to field a “team” of 20 #mothertriathletes to train for a Half Ironman in the second half of 2017 (race dates July 1-December 31). You can join the team by registering today. As of today, we are at 14 for-sures, so just need six more HIM'ers!
If we are able to do that by February 3, we will have everything polished and ready by February 13, when training for wave one (races on July 1-2) will officially commence. If we are unable to fill the team, we will refund all the registration fees in full by February 6.
