Sarah and Dimity host guest Ashleigh Kayser, the beautifully buff personal trainer and mom of 4, who designed the at-home strength training plan in Train Like a Mother. Ashleigh leads the circuit training class that Sarah grunts-yet-laughs through twice a week, so the truth comes out about one mother-runner’s weak spots. Ashleigh highlights the imbalances most runners have, and how they can overcome them with some multi-muscle moves (which Dimity remembers to call, “compound exercises”). She also tells us (and you) how to strengthen those muscles nobody but your doc and maybe your partner sees.

I listened to the podcast and I was a little put off by the guest. Did she really not know that Dimity was a distance runner or was she kidding? And she said she wasn’t familiar with the program she wrote for the book because she’s written so many plans since then. It sounded a tad arrogant and I was surprised she didn’t review her own program before appearing on the podcast. It just seemed disrespectful to the podcast, the listeners, and Dimity and Sarah. Maybe I’m reading too much into it. :)
Ooooh! Excited to listen! I’m fixing to start incorporating some weight training in the next couple months. Realistically, when I get my daughter in all-day school in August! First grade, here we come! :-) Looking forward to this podcast.
This podcast convinced me that yes, I do need to strength train. Ashleigh’s explanation of runners needing to do lateral moves to balance out all of the forward motion totally made sense to me.
Hello! Do you know if they make any plugins to safeguard
against hackers? I’m kinda paranoid about losing
everything I’ve worked hard on. Any recommendations?
