WILL CBD MAKE ME HIGH?

This article is the first in a series demystifying CBD, written by the founder of our partner Nature’s Gem. Be sure to head to Nature’s Gem CBD to check out weekly specials just for Mother Runners!

You’ve heard Sarah singing the praises of CBD on our podcast, yet you might be left wondering: Yeah, great, but will CBD make me high?

The short answer is no.

We know: It can be confusing because hemp and marijuana are both cannabis plant strains and both with CBD. However, there are different strains of cannabis. Think of it like you would roses. Roses have different smells, colors, leaves, flowers, because there are many varieties of roses. Same concept.

Cannabis plants have more than 100 cannabinoids (the active ingredients that make cannabis such a wonder-plant). CBD is one such cannabinoid, and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is another; THC is the culprit that produces the high feeling.

Hemp CBD, like that used in Nature’s Gem CBD products, comes from the cannabis plant strain Sativa L. This strain contains little (less than .03%) to no THC. This is why CBD from hemp plants results in little to no high effect, depending on if the product has THC or not.

At Nature’s Gem, the CBD ingestible products contain no THC, which is verified by independent third-party lab tests. If you are subject to random drug tests for competition or employment, using Nature’s Gem CBD products will show no indication of THC. (One of the many reasons, Olympic hopefuls use Nature’s Gem in their repertoire of recovery tools!)

Topical CBD products, like Sarah’s favorite (and Nature’s Gem top-seller) Rejuvenating Balm, with .03% or less THC will not leave THC traces in your blood. No highs here!
