Exactly one month from today, we’re going to convene with a group of women runners in a gorgeous pocket of the Pacific Northwest for a most epic adventure: the AMR Run + Refresh Retreat. From September 22 to 25, women from Wisconsin, Texas, Canada, Kansas, Illinois, Utah, Michigan, California, and places in between will join us to run, do yoga, garner training + racing advice, learn how to decrease the risk of running injuries and increase speed, gab, laugh, eat tasty food, and sleep on luxurious beds. Plus, we’re all going to take part in a gorgeous, women’s only race, Happy Girls Spokane, on the Saturday of the Retreat. All of this goodness is aimed at igniting or reinvigorating passions for our beloved sport of running!
Imagine yourself running under towering evergreen trees or along the banks of the rushing Spokane River. Hear yourself laughing with scores of new running buddies, who you feel an almost instantaneous connection with (thanks, in part, to the private Facebook group Retreat’ers are a part of). Picture yourself pushing toward the Happy Girls finish line with your strong legs flecked with trail dust. Feel the calm of an expertly led yoga session. Envision hanging out (or snoozing!), post-race, poolside at the host hotel, Red Lion Hotel at the Park.
Check out the Retreat schedule for a rundown of the fun.
We want everyone to be a part of the action and learning, and thanks to our premier partner, Saucony, two of you will get to join us for free! Yes, you read that correctly: One lucky winner will be able to grab the hand of her best running friend (or sister, co-worker, former college roomie, mother…) and attend the AMR Run + Refresh Retreat. Saucony is generously providing airfare and accommodations (AMR is waiving registration fee). Saucony is also giving the winner and her guest head-to-toe Saucony outfits!! It’s almost too good to be true, but it’s for realz.
To enter, tell us in a single sentence who you would bring to the AMR Run + Refresh Retreat–and why. No right or wrong answer (well, except that the guest has to be a woman and you have to live in continental U.S. or Alaska): You can opt to bring your sister because you want to introduce her to the joy of running; you can decide to grab your best running friend because you’ve always wanted to run in the verdant PacNW; you and your high school BFF can use Retreat as the girlfriends’ getaway you’ve been wanting to do for years. Just click on the Comments ribbon beneath this post on our website to tell us in one (1) sentence who’d you bring to the Retreat and why. (The winner will be chosen randomly so don’t fret about wordsmith’ing your answer too much.)
And if you aren’t the lucky winner (sorry!), head over to this page to register for the Retreat!
The details: This running giveaway sweepstakes is open to those over 22 and residents of the continental United States or Alaska. Part of a series of weekly running giveaways, it begins on 8/22/16 and ends on 8/24/16 at 11:59 EDT. We will announce one (1) random winner on our Facebook page on 8/25/16, as well as notifying the winner by email. One entry per person. The value of the prize ranges from $1,800 to $2,600. The number of eligible entries received determines the odds of winning. Void where prohibited by law.
I would bring my BRF Kelly D. Kelly and I have had a super stressful year and running has saved our sanity and made our friendship stronger.
I would bring my sister for her 40th
No one deserves a refresh more than my oldest and dearest friend (and BRF), Lena, who has had a trying year and has come through strong!
I would bring my mom! She’s been overseas for the last 9 months (just got back stateside this week) and I’ve missed having her around!
I would bring my BRF, Betsy, because she gets me out the door every day, and our therapeutic runs help me to see the days ahead as a gift rather than a challenge.
I would bring my BRF Amy because we both have a 3 year old and 6 year old and we need some R&R&R (rest, relaxation, and running).
I would bring my BRT(herapist) since she moved 5+hours away and we need to debrief!
Without a doubt my long distance BRF, Tina! We train virtually together for several races a year. Those weekends we spend together racing are priceless! Not a day goes by that we don’t text or chat about our daily run or all the things BRFs gossip about, but to do it in person is so much sweeter!
I would bring my friend Karen who I haven’t been able to run with for a couple years because we both move frequently.
My long distance BRF. She lives in Michigan and I am in Pennsylvania. We don’t get to run together often enough.

I’d bring my friend, Karen, because from the time we were in college and tried to “jog off” the effects of the weekend, I knew she’d be my running buddy. Not with five kids and a few hundred miles between us we are “remote cheerleaders” for each other. Years later and we still crack each other up with running antics!
OMG, I would bring my running buddy Laura because we both could use the inspiration, training tips, comradarie and overall awesomeness that is the AMR retreat!!!!
I would bring my running partner Tami because she motivates and inspires me every day!

My mom, who is my “across-the-miles” BFR, has been a willing participant in races with me and I am so blessed that she is so supportive – and the first to “like” all of my Facebook race photos!
It is difficult to say which of my many BRB’s I would bring, Lisa who is kicking it these days, Kim who needs the break from all the carpools/work/sick doggie, Clo who is getting back into the swing of things, Callie who is always strong and introduced us to the benefits of yoga – as you see the list goes on and on, but if you pick me I will figure it out :-) Cheers to all our running buddies!

I would bring my BRF Natalie because there’s no one I would rather experience this once in a lifetime opportunity with!
I would take my BRF who introduced me to running nearly 20 (ack!) years ago! Through marriages, babies, moves and a full assortment of injuries to both of us, we always come back to run together again.
I would bring my BRF, Becky, because she and I discuss all running- and health-related topics and have just experienced HR 101 together, which we loved!
I’ve roped my BRF into so many races the past nine years, she deserves for me to surprise her with a little Retreat: Run + Refresh!

We’ve been running together since our first babies were born 7 years ago and sadly had to become distance BRFs when she moved away a few years ago. We try to plan a race-cation weekend every year, but last year’s Zooma race-cation got a little spendy so we are opting for a more local race weekend this year (boo–not nearly as fun!) We’ve been reading and sharing the RLAM books since the first yellow book came out and we would LOVE to have the opportunity to meet up at the retreat!
I would bring my mom. She started running after seeing me do my first triathlon, and she has done so well! Even though I started out as the runner, there are times that I am not as consistent and she motivates me! It would be so cool to be able to share in something like this!
I would be bring my best running friend, Cindy. We met over 10 years ago and have gone on many training runs together, regardless of how far apart we live. She is a true inspiration and someone who has always made running a joy and reminds me to appreciate my ability to run each and every day.
wow! I would love to bring my daughter but since she will be in school and just recovering from knee surgery I think I would bring my friend I run with when we can. I would bring my sister-in-law who has been a constant running & fitness inspiration for me since my husband & I married (10 yrs in November) & who has been a great source of accountability for my with running even though we have NEVER had a chance to run together due to living hundreds of miles & several states away from each other.
I would take my best friend who also happens to be my sister. we live 9 hours apart but whenever we get together, we always go for a run together and the time flies by.
I would love to do this with my BRF Barbara. Barbara and I met a few years ago in our local running group and have run together ever since ball I have to say is,” I have and idea” and she says yes, no questions asked. We have done local races together, away races like The Goofy and her first marathon and in Jan we take in our biggest challenge, the Dooey one weekend and the Rebel Challenge the next. Due to work commitments we have not had time to run much together lately it plan our big January challenge but this weekend would give us a chance to do both.

I love the NW and would love to leave the Midwest to go there for a running retreat, but to be honest my BRF needs this more than I do – she is a caretaker to more than one parent with health issues, raises her own family, and works – I would love to help treat her to a retreat!
I would bring my best running friend Kim. She is always supportive, makes me run when I don’t want to. She is a great friend!

Since then I have run 3 half marathons along with many triathlons and just finished my first Half Ironman. I would bring my sister, Shannon, because not only is she my sis, she’s my BRF and she would kill me if I didn’t
I would bring my mom! I grew up watching her run and she is the inspiration behind my running journey! As a stay at home mom, her morning runs were her “me time”. Now that I’m a stay at home mom myself, she has encouraged, supported and inspired my running even more. She deserves a running getaway more than anyone I know, I hope I can inspire my own daughter as much as my mom has inspired me.

Julie lost her 8 year old daughter last November after a lifelong battle against a rare form of mitochondrial disease. Our years of running were a way for Julie to escape the stress of dealing with a medically complex child and have been a way for her to cope with the grief over this last 10 months. She is a strong mother runner who I constantly admire for her approach to running and life.

I would bring my dearest friend and fellow runner, Meghan, who just totally gets it all, who continually inspires me even though she would probably roll her eyes for me saying that and whom I dearly love.
I would LOVE to attend the retreat with my brf, Natalie, as she organized my first ever girls’ running retreat that culminated in the Red River (New Mexico) High Mountain Half Marathon in May 2014 – a fabulous weekend that I’m sure could only be exceeded by the AMR retreat!
I would bring my best fitness friend Molly. She inspires me every day to be a better version of myself, even when it is hot and humid and couch-sitting sounds easier than running before dawn. I hope all women have another woman in their life who believes in and inspires them so fully!

My BRF who moved away a few years ago. She’s from Spokane originally and would love to get to visit!
I would bring my best running friend. We have been running together for 4 years now. We have tried many new things like TRI’s, Century bike rides, and many marathons. I enjoy running with her and we always have a good time. I believe that having the best time at a race has nothing to do with how fast you ran. It has to do with the conversations with my friends.

married, or had kids. I would love this to help get her back into running with me and realize why we did took the sport up in the first place.

I would take my sister because we’ve both spent the good part of 40-ish years not running. I’ve discovered the joys of running in the past 18 months and am currently following the Marathon: Finish It Plan for my first marathon this fall! Running has brought such pride and energy to my life, and although my sister would love to join this world, she doesn’t know how to start. AMR has been a crucial partner in my intro to running — I save your podcasts for my runs, so they’re my constant running companion — and I’d love to share this with her! (And yes, we’re both moms — she of 4, and me of 2. And I live on the east coast and she on the west coast, so we never, ever get to see each other. This would be really special.)
My girl Atha. The day I ran my first 5k (back in 2010) she said, “you may think I’m crazy but I think you should sign up for a half marathon “. As soon as we finished that, she said “you may think I’m crazy but we should sign up for a full marathon”. She has been my best friend, BRF, neighbor, and running coach over the years. Right now she is going through a divorce, and my girl could use a little vacation time. Would love to surprise her with a running retreat!

My girlfriend who is running even through chemo treatments. She’s fighting breast cancer at a young age and inspiring everyone in our running club.

I’d bring my BFF since I was two years old. She’s a runner and I’m a runner, but we’ve nver live close enough to each other to actually ever run together!
I would bring my sister Jessie. She is my soulmate, my solemate, my BRF and my best friend.
I would bring my close friend and co-worker Christy Hronkin because she is always up for a run and got me involved in triathlons.
I would bring my friend Kristen – the one who introduced me to AMR several years ago. She is also out on maternity leave right now with her 4th little miracle.
I would take my best friend, Andrea, she ran with me through the grief of losing of my mom-in-law to breast CA followed by the loss of my dad tragically 5 days later to a car accident. And now she is grieving the loss of her marriage. Running has and is a huge part of our journey of healing.
I would take one of the running friends I’ve just made on Twitter. I don’t have any BRFs and I’m still summoning up the courage to run with anyone at all! (I’m slow. 50-minute 5K slow.) This retreat would be life-changing for me in so many ways.
I’d bring my running friend, Barb, because it’s been way, way too long since I’ve seen her.
Kathy: she is a lovely friend, great mama, loves to run, and could use a retreat to rejuvenate
I’d bring my BRF Valarie. We need some bonding time!
I would bring my friend Merissa. She has inspired me to get into running. We are running a half marathon in November. This is something I never thought I would be able to do.
BRF Rachel for the win!
I’d want to bring my sister, while she still can.
My sister, because we both love to run and rarely see each other
I would bring my best friend Jen…she’s been an awesome runner for years, and best friend for even longer…and we could both use it!! :)
I’d bring my amazing friend, Erica; we’ve been friends for 26 years and she continually inspires me to be a better person and a better runner.
I would bring my Mom! My Mom was the one to introduce me to running 7 years ago and it has completely changed my life. She tore her ACL in Feb. and is actually fully recovered at this point. She is now finally running a couple miles a day, which is a huge step! I would love to win this retreat because I’m headed off back to college and this would bring back memories of us running together when I was younger. It would also motivate her to start running marathons again. Thanks!
I would bring my BRF Diana Moller, because we started the C25k together last summer to lose weight and have stuck together the last year through “thick” and “thin”.
Diane, my BRF and partner crime taking over leadership of a local women’s running group. I have so much to learn!!!
I’d bring my sister to introduce her to how amazing running is!!!
I would bring my good friend Tara since I know she’d love running in the PNW!
If I win, I’d have a hard time choosing which one of my BRF’s I’d bring. Maybe we’d draw straws : ) I’m blessed to have so many great AMR in my tribe!!
I would bring my friend Jen who has supported my journey and opened new doors to me.
I would bring my best friend, Laura who is a tired mother runner who seldom gets time to run anymore and who needs a break.
Bringing my daughter who wants to be a runner but still hates it…want to show her the power of pace.
I would love to
Bring my BRF! We live too far away from each other and would love to meet up
and run together again!!
I would bring my high school running buddy/BFF so we could relive our cross country days!
My BRF and I are military spouses who just had to move away from each other so this would be a fantastic reunion!
I would bring my sister. We haven’t been together in way too long, and she’s just coming back to running after a couple of pregnancies and is working so hard, and could really use the boost!
I would bring my co-workers. We started a running group and are training for our first race!
I would bring my good friend Adrienne because we live 6 hours apart and could both use a break from real life to focus on us and our running!
I would bring my best friend (soon to be-best RUNNING friend !) that sadly just moved to Texas and who is just beginning her running journey!!
I would take by best friend Kristy because she has sacrificed so much this past year to help me be an over comer!!! :)
I would bring my Running BBF. Running has dramatically changed both of our lives in all aspects. We started 2 summers ago by completing the Coach to 5k together and in May did our first half marathon.
I would bring my BRF, we’re registered for MCM (in honor of her 2 marine sons), because she’s having trouble with proper training, and I want her to finish happier and healthy than in the past
I would take my BRF Jen as we have been friends since age 15, she’s there for my always, and we missed our girls weekend this summer!
I would bring my best friend, who just had a baby, because she is having a hard time getting her running mojo back!!!
Of course I’d bring my BRF!
I would bring my sister – she just started running and I am so proud of her hard work…she deserves the opportunity to really see how powerful the running community is!
I would bring my friend Cortney. Her family has been tight in money and I don’t think she’s ever gotten a weekend away for fun. Plus, we would have a great time together!!!
I would bring my Boston Marathon BRF Marybeth who dragged me outta bed in the morning after my cancer treatments to get me running again! xo
I would bring one of the great group of women I run with….the hard part would be choosing which one, as they’re all such fun, fabulous and inspiring women!
My first pick would be my BRF Kimberly, but since she’s a badass running Ragnar Cascades the week before, she may not want to take two long weekends away from her kids. Mother runners would understand. In that case, I’d have to take my sister Jan, who was my first BRF until work/life/moving got in the way.
Definitely my BRF, who was instrumental in getting me started running again last year and has helped me in so many areas of my life besides running while running!
I would bring my BRF who has inspired me to run and been my biggest supporter in the struggles of life during our runs.
I’d bring my BFF and BRF Amy. She’s always there, a silent, but steady ‘big sister’ that I don’t have, and the miles fly by.
My running mom friend who is pregnant and could certainly use a weekend away before being hit with no sleep and full time baby care again soon.
My sister, we are training for Wine and Dine and this would be a perfect way to spark our motivation!
I would bring my old college friend, Jessica, who has been inspiring me since college: encouraging me to start running, mentoring me as a mom since she had kids before me, inviting me to join the women’s fitness and nutrition groups she leads. It would be the ultimate thank you note for everything she has done for me.
I would take my friend Karina! She is one tough mother runner, someone who knows running and motherhood isn’t easy! Campeona!
I would bring my lifelong friend Erin, she is my best friend, my voice of reason, my shoulder to cry on and my rock, and with 7 kids between us we haven’t taken time for ourselves in 11 years!!
My buddy “E” needs a break – she needs a long weekend to relax, recharge and refocus while working through some things.
I’d bring Becca because she’s a mom of toddlers and she deserves it
I would take my running buddy Kenna. She stuck with me running through my last pregnancy, so I’d say we both deserve a fun girls’ weekend that has the bonus of being run-centered. :)
I’d bring my cousin Barbi who has helped push me to do better in my running & wearing a tutu while doing it. She’s an amazing mother, friend and supporter.
I’d bring my friend, Amy, because she introduced me to the fun of half-marathons almost a decade ago.
I’d bring my running buddy Brianna – we have been through so much together!
I would bring my friend Dawn because she is my BFF, my BRF, and because we are planning a trip for our 40th birthdays and this would be an awesome gift for us!
I would take my blind running friend Kate. We both have two kids and would love a break. But….the contest isn’t open to Canadians :(
I would bring my sister in law, Katie because we are approaching the one year anniversary of her dad’s passing and this would provide a little bright spot for her in the middle of her sadness.
I’d bring my childhood BFF who happens to be my BRF to celebrate the many life journeys that our running days have brought us through including her bout with cancer.
I’d bring whoever would be well enough to go…seems most of my running buddies are in some state of injury lately. :(
(But I’m still healthy!!!)
I would take my niece, Kira. She is just starting her first year as a teacher and the retreat would be wonderful for her!
I would bring my best friend since age 12. She has been there for me through two kids, many moves and she loves to run. We haven’t been able to run together much but this would be a good chance.
I would bring my friend Lorie. We met in a running group and quickly not only became running friends but lifelong friends; being able to share this together would just add to the great memories we’ve created because of running.
I’d bring an awesome running friend who never leaves a slower runner or walker behind. She deserves to have an amazing running adventure like this and it’s always been my dream to get back to the Pacific Northwest for another run!
I would bring my beautiful mom, to help show her that running knows no age limits and that she can enjoy the freedom and fitness that comes with running – even if she doesn’t yet believe it herself!
I would bring my bestie of 28 (!) years and BRF Kristen because she is my true sole/soul sister and we need some time away from our too busy lives to refresh ourselves!
I would bring my BFF Colleen. I knew she was a true friend when, to support me on 20-mile marathon training runs during college, she would park 5 miles away from campus with coffee and the Sunday newspaper, to serve as my “pit crew” on an out-and-back route. We’ve now been BFFs for 25 years!
I would bring my BRF and former neighbor, Amber, because we have not been able to run together since I moved out of state– and we both need some calm in our lives right now!
I would bring my sister-in-law who I beat by a second in an 8th grade cross country race but will probably never pass her again. Lol!

I would bring my friend Kristen. It would be a nice moms weekend away for the both of us.
I would bring my best friend, Gina, who would be my BRF if not separated by distance.
My best friend Kate who is training for and running the Chicago marathon for Parkinson’s Research with her 71 year old dad who has Parkinson’s. She’s a stay at home mom of 2 boys and I am a kindergarten teacher expecting my second in April!
I would bring my dearest friend, Skye, who helped me believe I could be a runner by becoming one first. She’s working to take back her body after baby #2 and I’m constantly working to balance my life (busy wife, mom, and educator) with precious daily “me” time (running=my therapy=my happy, best self!).
I would bring my good friend Kate, who I’ve known for more than 30 years!
Well, I hate to be redundant, but I _would_ bring my sister to nudge her along on her health and running journey. plus, she never does enough for herself. Or, if she won’t swing the time off (new job), I’d bring a local BRF…they’ll have to draw straws because I’m blessed with many (Lucky me, Lucky them!)!
I would bring my best of the best friend Lena Claire! She’s my soul sister.
I would bring my BRF, Kristen. Two years ago we went from living exactly 3 miles from each other to living 961 miles from each other. Those miles prevent us from our weekly BCOD (butt crack o’ dawn) runs and all of the support, tears, smiles, and laughter that inevitably go along with a BRF and an open trail.
I would bring my brf, her friendship and our runs together, has changed my life.
I would bring one of my best friends who also runs but we’ve never gone running together (ever), and I would love to do something that inspires and appreciates running/fittness that we can do together.
I would bring my friend from my Sunday morning running group because she has helped me and encouraged me.
I would invite my high school friend, inspiration, and BAMR, Tram P, because she’s an amazing mom to her two little nuggets and doesn’t allow her scoliosis to get in the way of her love for running.
I would invite my amazing sister because she has been working to make running a habit, and a weekend like this would be the final inspiration both of us to take running into our 50s!
I would bring my sister Melissa because we rarely get to see each other, finding time to talk on the phone is equally difficult, and this would be a lovely get away for both of us!
If I win I would bring my friend who is more like a sister -Kelly!- because she is the most hard working and generous person I know, and she inspires others to run and be their best self, AND she DESERVES a little vacation from daily life!
My BRF Hannah and I could use some refreshment and relaxation now that school is in full swing.
For sure, I’d bring my BRF and serious BAMR – Wendy! We live in Florida and the summer heat is just a bear to train in, so would love some cooler and drier weather to run in! We have also been on different schedules this summer and haven’t had enough BRF time on the road or trails. I’ve missed my BRF!
I would bring my BRF (sister) Amy, bc we have been running partners since the beginning of our running career and she’s buying a condo all on her own and I think she deserves a trip.
I’d take my best running buddy with me because she was one of the first friends I made through Team in Training when I moved out to California and we’ve been hanging out, training and racing together ever since while motivating others to run/workout with us to achieve their fitness goals as well!
I would bring one of my best friends from when I was 10, who has been struggling lately and recently was inspired by my marathon training to take up running again :)
I’d be torn between my two BRFs – Marianne Lloyd, who we all know and love, and Abbie, my local BRF! If we split the third entry three ways we could all do it! :)
I would take my former BRF Jennifer. I say “former” because she is just getting back to running, and our schedules don’t match up anymore… so we could use a girls getaway together!

I would bring my best running friend who just happens to be my sister, the one who got me into running and keeps me going every day!
I would bring my niece, Gia White. Gia is a single mother of 2 girls ( 8 & 10). She is struggling to balance her life as a mom and also going back to school full time (getting her MS in psych). She was once a top US triathlete, then just focused on running. She won the Houston Marathon, and qualified for (and ran in) the 2008 US Olympic Trials marathon. Her running has suffered due to divorce, multiple moves, and being a super mom, and full-time student. She could really use this get-away!
I would bring my older sister who keeps me motivated by running more marathons than I do, while juggling a high powered career and 2 teenage kids and husband!
I would bring my favorite running partner, my mom!!!!
I would bring my friend Karen because she would have a really good time at this and really enjoy herself!
I would bring my sister Christy because she is the one who has really inspired me to stick with running when it gets tough and would love to spend a weekend with her doing all things related to running!!

I would take Roni Widmer with me. She lives in CT and I live in TX together we are training for the Hartford marathon in Oct. I would be great to get away together before our run! We haven’t seen each other in 4 yrs.
I’d bring my BRF CeCe!
I would bring my BRF Donna because she’s always been there for me running, the start, when I needed to be dragged, when I needed to start over!
So many options, but probably would have to go with my college BFF who introduced me to running two decades ago. We both turn 40 in the next 6 months, so I think a girls weekend is much needed!
I’d bring my best friend since 14 years old to celebrate our 40th birthdays this year!
I would bring my 25 year long friend, Becky, because it would be good for our souls.
I’d bring my most reliable running buddy Brenda Lilly who is always up for a running date and adventure!
My friend Jodi, who resparked my fire for running and encouraged me that taking time for me (running, training, practice yoga) makes me a better person/mom and it isn’t selfish!!!
I would bring my sister because she is one of the most inspiring people I know – a CFO, wife, mom, 3 time Ironman finisher, 3 time Boston Marathon runner, and she has MS!

I would bring my BRF, Angela A., who I actually met thanks to you, Dimity and Sarah, during last fall’s AMR marathon challenge and although she and I live on opposite sides of the country, the daily texts about raising boys, husbands that travel (A LOT) for work and our training/racing schedules have kept us close and it would be amazing to run with her again in person (instead of just complaining about tempo runs via text) at the retreat as it has been almost a year since we were running together in the NYC marathon.

I would bring my sister Amy because even though we are both runners, we live in different states and never get to run together…this would be a great way to spend some time with her, run, do yoga and get some uninterrupted sleep :)

I would bring this best new version of myself, who was created through hours of hard rewarding running miles, much of which was inspired by amazing friend Eryn, who will be joining me.
I would bring my friend Lacey, She motivates me to run faster and longer and we just love to run.
I’d bring my fabulous friend Freida! She got me started running, motivates me to keep running, and introduced me to AMR!
I’d bring my oldest daughter Nicole, who found her new strength from running and lost 60lbs!
It would be a true gift to her
I would bring my sis in law Rochelle, who encouraged me to take up running and is always chanting “you can do it”!
I would love to bring my mama. She’s truly my best friend and has always been so supportive of me. I would love no one more than her to enjoy this treat with!
I would bring my BRF, Lisa because we motivate each other, run together, sit out injuries together, and make iur kids ride their bikes together so we can run!

I would bring my dear friend Laura who has been motivating and inspiring me in running and in life for 18 years–pacing me literally and figuratively through so many of life’s biggest joys, sorrows, discoveries and losses, reminding me to put one foot in front of the other no matter what and growing with each step into a pair of badass mother runners.

I would love to spend the time with my dear friend Michele, my fellow army wife. We rarely get to see each other but love to meet up for races. This would be the perfect opportunity to reunite.
Pick me! Pick me! Do I remind you of that kid in 4th grade who always raised her hand first b/c she knew all the answers? …Well, I was the kid who NEVER did any athletic events. Hated sports. When we were forced to run the dreaded mile, I was last. Last to be picked for kickball. You know the story. Well, not anymore! After my 2nd son was born, I decided to start walking… Fast forward….I got into the lottery for the NYC Marathon 2016! Super excited. I have never been out west to run and would LOVE this opportunity. I have a few BRF’s who’d be so much fun to hang out with. Pick me, Pick me!! Hahahaha
I would bring my sister who has over come so many obstacles in the last year that has forced her mentally to quit running. I would remind her of the sport she once loved, so she she would be reminded of the support she has in the running community and how even when we aren’t together, there is support wherever she is.
I would grab my friend Gena, because she’s a real donut-eating-running-loving-sleep-loving-president-of-everything mother.

She is my BRF, a gold star family member, president of the JBLM chapter of Wear Blue: Run to Remember, a leader of the Warrior Tri Team, and the most beautiful person you’ve ever met. Her passion to honor her brother has translated into a love of running that runs off on those around her. She pushes me to try things outside my comfort zone and lifts me up when I fail and celebrates when I succeed. She’s one awesome chick
I would bring my daughter along, because she needs encouragement to put herself before her kids for once!

My sister, Katielyn, is an endless giver and motivates me to keep going when I want to quit. She’s younger than I am but I’ve looked up to her for years. When life gives lemons, she makes lemonade. She can easily outpace me on our runs despite the fact she wears old sneakers that should have been retired years ago. During these runs she challenges me to push myself but always sticks by my side. Never a whiner or complainer but always a giver and encourager she focuses on making things fun for others rather than being in it to win it for herself. She works so hard in her day to day life and has taken her partner’s two children under her wing as if they were her own. This hasn’t been without sacrifice but she makes it work because it’s important to her. She is deserving of new sneakers AND such an awesome weekend away! As an aside, we have a tradition of sporting tutus on our fun runs. These happy tutu clad sisters would love an excuse to put together another fun ensemble for the Saturday run. What a treat and treasure this weekend would be!!

Hi, my name is Amber and I am a Compulsive Debtor aka Spender. I began running two years ago because I needed a new high and jolts of corrisol and adrenaline did the trick. However, heart rate training has robbed me of those chemicals since early June. I have had to face my demons, my family and my friends and come clean about this negative behavior and the debt I have amassed in always giving more than I have and ignoring my finances and sometimes my own self-care. Running slower and without music given me the headspace I needed to get clear about my issues. My BRF Janet who helped me keep running in the early days when shin splints made me want to quit, has been there through it all and has continually encouraged me to keep going and to lean on God. In a society where we are supposed to Be Strong, Suck It Up Butter Cup, Put On Your Big Girl Panties and so-on, leaning on God has been the last thing I wanted to do. I began a 12-step program this week and am coming to face the fact that I cannot do this alone. I am developing a debt recovery plan and am tracking all of my expenses daily. Travel and even races aren’t part of my new lifestyle (at least not for the next 3-5 years) so I would celebrate this opportunity to connect with my BRF and celebrate my road to recovery and hope to share my journey with other women who are looking for a way to heal their wounds without using unsecured credit as a bandaid.
I would bring my BRF Melissa because she truly understands the spiritual, mental, and physical benefits that running has brought to our mornings.
I would bring my best mothering friend – Cailin. We both have four kids and really appreciate the quiet time of a good run!
I would bring my Mom! She has gone through two knee surgeries and is still a beast. Her recent knee surgery was last June and she is already up and moving in beast mood. I think it would be amazing to experience with her. My Mom is the one person who has always motivated me to run and made me feel like I was always number one no matter how good or bad I really did! She is 68 years old and I can only hope to be half as amazing as she is when I am her age!! It would be amazing to win and have her with me!!!
I would bring my BRF Sarah!
I would bring my childhood BFF Carly because we’ve been running through life for nearly 25 years and our best conversations happen on the trail.
