Go for goals: Dimity and Sarah eschew the word “resolutions,” preferring instead to talk about New Year’s goals. The mother runners impart advice and insight about making goals—set the bar high, but not too lofty–and attaining them. They talk about the importance of having a contingency plan for when life backfires on you and your planned workout. Along the way, Sarah nearly laughs herself silly, and Dimity tosses out an award-winning array of pithy aphorisms. (Sarah must be rubbing off on her!)*If you’re digging our podcasts, we’d be super-grateful if you’d take a minute (because we *know* you have so many to spare!) to write a review on iTunes. Listened to this today on my ‘long’ run.
I felt like you ladies were just having a conversation (in a good way!) Loose, funny & informative, thank you.
I listened after watching the marathon trials, and got inspired and motivated all over again! I loved what Dimity said about realizing her body doesn’t do well with only running and how she’s going to get into triathlons. Way to go! (Anyone who gets in water other than to shower is a badass in my book.) Also loved the discussion about not having to have the marathon as the ultimate goal and not choosing race distances where you dread the training required. I love half marathons at the finish line, but really don’t enjoy the long runs necessary to get there. Love the shorter, faster training so I’m going race the heck out of 5 and 10k’s this summer. Thanks ladies!
Dimity, when you realize you can’t just run, you set the bar high….1/2 Iron. Way to go! I did one half marathon, just about 18 months ago. It burned me big time, after only a short time before that becoming a runner. For the last two years, I have fully embraced the Sprint Tri. I simply adore them and have never felt stronger. I still do an occasional 5k (yesterday, a Frozen Buns run…plenty of hills, 24 degrees) and a 10k every once in a while, but love ripping up the water and spinning like mad on my bike. Thanks for this podcast; just what I needed :)
Thanks for all the great running advice in this podcast.
Awesome, as usual. 1/2 Iron is a HUGE goal, way to go Dimity!! Boston’s not for slackers either…
