Business: White Squirrel Clayworks
Product: Pottery, candles, soaps

Being a self-taught potter, I took a beginner throwing class in June 2018 and hated it for the first three weeks. I couldn’t center and was the last in my class to complete anything. But I was determined to get it and kept practicing as much as possible. By the time the six-week class was over, I had found my passion and knew that this was what I was meant to do. I wanted to offer customers a high-quality, affordable products that would bring them a smile. In April of 2022, I quit my full-time job and took on production pottery. I’ve never looked back!

Name: Sarah Speer
Business: Artfelt Studios
Product: Jewelry

I make custom jewelry fabricated primarily from sterling silver, copper or bronze. I often use natural stone cabochons or glass in my jewelry. While I will always love making 2D art and working in glass, a trip to the Toledo Museum of Art changed my trajectory. I saw a lonely little pendant in a display case. I thought it was an earring. I imagined a long forgotten woman coming home from a party. “Gosh darn it! I lost an earring!” While we don’t know the original artist, or the original owner, we can still admire the craftsmanship of the piece and be inspired by the details. I realized that if I focused on metalsmithing, some of my pieces could outlive me.

Name: Sandra Polsinelli
Business: Mario’s Mittens
Product: Knitted gnomes

I am an avid marathoner (54 and counting) and knitting complements running so well. Go for a run then sit and knit! I enjoy knitting gnomes and with a full gnome shelf at home, I love to send them off into the world. Gnomes make great ornaments, travel companions, and buddies for hide-and-seek around the house. Each one is handmade with love from hand-dyed yarns. You can send a DM on Instagram to order.

Name: Monica Ihrke
Business: Monica Ihrke Prints and ShearMoreSheep on Etsy
Product: Relief-printed linoleum

I’m a printmaker currently based in Duluth, Minnesota and I’ve been working on my craft for over 20 years. I use relief-printed linoleum to depict beloved and vulnerable natural and industrial spaces. My method is to use strong lines and build depth through the use of colors and textures by layering multiple runs of ink in my prints. My work is often based on the trails that I run through the North Country. When not printing, I can be found running on the Superior Hiking Trail, mending the knees of little boy pants, growing food and flowers in my garden, and riding bikes with my family.

Name: Katherine Fultz
Business: Purple Peach Studios
Product: Illustrations and design

I’ve always loved making things and grew up in a creative family. However, I spent most of my adulthood doing research in the social sciences. It wasn’t until after my kids were born that I really shifted my focus to visual art. I started my illustration business by making coloring pages for my daughter, and gradually added handmade stationery, stickers, notebooks, and small gifts. I live in Upstate NY, where I sell at local art markets. When I’m not making art (or running!) I work as an educator at an art museum.

I have “running” stickers for planners and calendars! They can be used to check off completed workouts for 5k, 10k, half, and marathon training plans.

Name: Candy Kemp
Business: Turtle to Goat Creations
Product: Personalized laser-engraved items

I am a female, veteran-owned small business specializing in custom, laser-engraved wooden items and gifts. In addition to wood, I also work with acrylic, powder-coated tumblers, and various other materials. I purchased my first laser during Covid when overtime at work was canceled and races were rescheduled. Having been intrigued by lasers for a while, my husband encouraged me to buy one, noting that I might never have as much spare time as I did during that period. It turned out to be a great opportunity to learn something new.

I love making personalized gifts that mean something to the recipient, such as ornaments to remember a special vacation or occasion or a handwritten recipe traced and engraved on a cutting board.  I would love to collaborate with you!
