Was it just us, or did 2016 fly by faster than a 10-minute mile? As we wrap up 12 months of running, racing, friendship, and fun, we can’t help but look back at the moments that defined the year. Rewind back to January 2016 with us as we remember the highlights of each month. And check back tomorrow for the second half of the year and to find out how you can add your own Mother Runner moments, too.

January

train like a mother club
Hello, TLAM 2.0
The brand-spanking-new Train Like a Mother Club launched on a new site. It officially included all of Dimity’s blood, sweat, and tears. Members accessed training plans, a private Facebook page full of #motherrunner teammates, a private Strava club to log miles, a seriously stocked swag bag, and a (priceless) running community/group of lifelong friends.

We Rolled Out Our Role Mothers
We met Nicole, Pam, Sarah, Tania, Melissa, and Ashley, all at various places in the running spectrum as our first-ever Role Mothers. They taught us about hydration, training logs, and what happens when you run a Disney half on Day 2 of your period (thanks, Melissa).

We Got To Know Mother Runner Olympic Hopefuls
We followed the Olympic Marathon Trials in Los Angeles in February, including three “regular moms” who had the grit, focus, and speed to run that amazing 26.2-mile race.

Boston Strong!
SBS, plus 27,000 buddies, runs from Hopkinton, MA, to Back Bay for the Boston Marathon. “I can’t begin to express how strongly it motivated me and buoyed my spirits every time I heard someone shout, ‘Run strong, Sarah Bowen Shea!’ or ‘Go, Champy!’ Or ‘Yeah, SBS!'”

Bonus: Vintage AMR tees were spotted on the Boston sidelines.

Can you Say 140?
After experiencing her own running transformation via heart rate training with her coach, Dimity, once again, offered up her blood, sweat, and tears to launch Heart Rate Training Challenges to give Mother Runners an opportunity to run pain- and injury-free.

Mother Runners Are Team Members
Lora and her posse of mother runners, fresh off completing a marathon relay wearing our latest tank top. Can’t miss ’em in a crowd–a quality we love in a race top!

Seek and Ye Shall Find
We LOVE the story behind this photo (as well as the photo itself!): AJ Benefield of Denver was hiking in the Black Hills of South Dakota when she came across another hiker wearing another mother shirt! Living proof of our store’s tagline of, “You’re not just buying a shirt; you’re buying into a community.” No matter where your feet take you!!

We got real about PPD
Kym lost her only sister, Kristy Elmore Langdon, to postpartum depression in May of 2014. We shared Kristy’s story because running is just one piece of health, and mental health often gets swept under the rug out of fear, ignorance, or embarrassment.

There’s so much more! Check back tomorrow for the remainder of the year, as well as a fun way you can add your own 2016 moments to the Tribe’s retrospective.
