The Sleep Show

Dimity taking a rare nap–is it a hockey nap or a disco one?–under our merch table last June.

Sarah and Dimity re-live their weekend at runDisney Princess Half Marathon, complete with numerous clang-clanging medals. Having woken up at 2:45 a.m. for that race’s early start, it’s fitting that the mother runners bring on a sleep expert, Dr. Kelly Glazer Baron, the director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program at Northwestern University, to talk about how sleep—and lack of it—affects mood, motivation, and running performance. Kelly, as the ladies call the doc, shares tips for falling asleep—and back to sleep. Dimity asks a trifecta of questions about drugs—caffeine, alcohol, and Rx—and how they affect catching zzz’s. While discussing the land of Nod, the gals find out what “sleep drive” is.
