Love the Run: Fall 2022

Out of stock

In April 2020, our first Love the Run started weeks after the pandemic lockdown. The program was a lifeline for many of us: In lieu of IRL races, we created our own virtual events. We lapped local tracks for one-mile time trials; we coordinated costumes for virtual relays; we chalked up sidewalk finish lines and broke toilet-paper tapes. And in the process, we felt connected, healthy, and strong—feelings that were rare during those days (and months).

More than two years later, we’re thrilled races + expos are back and as strong as ever. But we still Love the Run and the energy, community, and structure it brings to both our running and our lives.

So the AMR Team gathered ’round the white board, and gave the program a refresh. Love the Run: Fall 2022 still has all the features you already know and love—a training program, amazing swag, community-o-rama—but we added an additional component: a multi-level mileage challenge, complete with an AMR Tracker.

Our brand-new mileage challenge is, of course, built for all levels of runners and walkers. Beginning or getting-back-to it runners can follow our training program with a goal of 10 weekly miles. Runners who love to mix up their training can aim for 10 or 20 weekly miles: All kinds of activities are eligible for miles. More advanced runners—or those prepping for a fall half marathon or marathon—can set a goal of 20 or 30 weekly miles to ensure accountability.

As we Love the Run mile by mile this fall, we’ll encourage each other, thrive on the group momentum, participate in a live AMR Answers podcast (love!), and feel connected, healthy, and strong along the way. Can’t wait.

Program runs September 12-November 20, 2022.

The Details

Love the Run: Fall 2022

Cover 100, 200, or 300 miles over 10 weeks. (Sliced-and-diced another way: Cover 10, 20, or 30 miles/week for 10 weeks.) You can run, walk, elliptical, swim, or do squats for them. (Both traditional miles and cross-/strength-training count!) The interactive, colorful AMR Tracker records your daily mileage and charts your progress.

The Fall 2022 Love the Run swag includes a pair of custom AMR Tifosi sunglasses; a pair of Wrightsock Coolmesh II Tab socks; a sleeve of GU Energy Chews; a GU Stroopwafel; a Kate’s Real Food Bar; SweatX Odor Eliminator; a coupon for a free bottle of Core Power Protein Shake; and an adorable Love the Run sticker.

The three-level, 10-week program (September 12-November 20) is designed to help every level of runner and walker meet her weekly mileage goal. Each track receives a mix of runs, cross-training sessions, and strength circuits, so you’ll stay engaged and motivated!

Each week, one of our fantastic, knowledgeable Train Like a Mother coaches will drop into the private Facebook page to answer any questions you have about your running, fitness, injuries, and goals. The Ask the Coach column is a highlight: You’ll gain insight and knowledge reading it, even if you don’t ask a thing!

For the first time ever, Sarah + Dimity are going to record an episode of AMR Answers in front of a live, online audience: the Love the Run athletes! Thinking on our feet, we’ll answer your questions live—and have more than a few laughs along the way.

We can’t create—or condone—a program that doesn’t have a handful of unique contests, runs that emphasize joy, and other ways to nurture your love of the run. (Of course, none of the contests focus on speed or distance: They’re all about loving the run + fun.) We’ve lined up excellent prizes (gotta be in it to win  it!).

As a participant of Love the Run: Fall 2022, you’ll
receive a sweet swag package. And
by sweet, we mean STOCKED with fun stuff you’ll use regularly. It includes a pair of custom AMR Tifosi sunglasses; a pair of Wrightsock Coolmesh II Tab socks; a sleeve of GU Energy Chews; a GU Stroopwafel; a Kate’s Real Food Bar; SweatX Odor Eliminator; a coupon for a free bottle of Core Power Protein Shake; and an adorable Love the Run sticker.

Select the size of your Wrightsocks above before you add your registration to cart. Available in Medium (W’s shoe sizes 6.5-9) and Large (W’s shoe sizes 9.5-11).

Depending on what training track/mileage goal you choose, you’ll run or run/walk three to five times a week, strength- or cross-train once or twice, and have at least one weekly rest day. During the program, run/walks include variety of
easy efforts, long runs, intervals, tempos, and hill repeats. You’ll also be given four 15-minute strength routines to follow for strength training.

Here’s a sample week; the workouts are explained fully in the program.

Absolutely! Walking is great. You can either follow our program for your weekly mileage or design your own—the choice is yours.

Absolutely! We want you to stay on the training program so you have your best race possible AND we’d love for you to join us in Love the Run. You can track your mileage, ride the wave of community momentum, and participate in all the fun weekend contests.

If you’re training for a 5K or 10K, we’d suggest the orange track: 20 miles a week.

If you’re training for a half marathon, your track choice depends on the intensity of your training program. For more basic plans, the orange track (20 miles/week) is a great call; for more advanced ones, the red track (30 miles/week) will suit you well.

If you’re training for a marathon or ultra, we’re guessing the red track (30 miles/week) is an ideal fit.

In the AMR Tracker, there is a mileage converter: For every 15 minute block of cross-training you do, you earn one mile.

Nearly all movement qualifies as cross-training: riding a Peloton bike for 45 minutes (= 3 miles); taking an hour yoga class (= 4 miles); one of the 15-minute Love your Strong videos, provided with registration (= 1 mile). Pretty much any activity that requires a sports bra can apply toward your mileage.

In fact, you can participate in Love the Run by only cross-training or mixing up cross-training with walking. (We should really call this program Love the Movement, but that’s a little clunky…)

Yep! At the start of Love the Run, you’ll pick your individual mileage goal for the next 10 weeks : 10 weekly miles/100 total miles; 20 weekly miles/200 total miles; 30 weekly miles/300 total miles.

As you complete your miles, you’ll log them in the AMR tracker, which tallies both your weekly and total mileage.

Absolutely. At any point in the program, you can easily change groups. Your previous weekly and total mileage will still be recorded.

We’ll come to your house and run with you until you meet it! (Kidding, although it would be fun to run IRL together.)

There are no repercussions for not meeting your goal. We absolutely realize that life/offspring/work/empty fridges can easily thwart your plans. Do your best to stay on track. And if missing your weekly goal doesn’t sit well with you, you can always add on one-mile bits and pieces to upcoming workouts by doing strength or stretching post-run. And at any point in the program, if the track you chose seems beyond  your reach, you can scale back to a different track (e.g. aim for 20 miles/week instead of 30).

While the training program officially kicks off Monday, September 12, you are totally fine if you join a week or two late. (See above: What happens if I don’t make my weekly or total mileage goal?)

Lucky you: You’ve got two training programs! You can pick a mileage goal that feels good to you and follow either program—or mix and match!

You can do the full Love the Run program with no extra equipment besides your running gear and your body. That said, here are a few extras to consider if you’d like:

Cross Training: If you have a bike or a piece of cardio equipment at the gym or home you like, you
can use that for cross-training, but you can also walk or hike outside for cross training.

Love the Strength: We will use 10-15 pound dumbbells in one of the four provided 15-minute strength routines and a heavy resistance band in another, and two of them will be equipment free.  We have linked to recommended products in Amazon, or you can easily find these at a local store.
