This spring, blooming isn’t just for daffodils and tulips; Love the Run is back to help you flourish as a runner!

Our popular virtual event series for everyone from beginners to marathon maniacs and better than ever. We’ve got three tracks of training perfect for spring running: You pick the one that fits your experience and schedule best. Three fun, community virtual events (stocked with great prizes for all levels!) fill out the 10-week program.

In addition to 10 full weeks of expert coaching and engaging workouts, this program includes a weekly Tool to Bloom—think of it as fertilizer for your running. We’ll have how-to videos and expert advice on everything from dynamic warm-ups to hydration habits.

FULL TRAINING PROGRAM

The 10-week program (February 28-May 8) is designed to welcome every level of runner and walker—and can be adjusted as you progress through the training cycle. There are three tracks you can follow to complete the three virtual events A: for beginning runners or run/walkers; M: for runners who want to cover the distances capably; R: for runners who want an extra challenge.

THREE VIRTUAL EVENTS

Pin on a Love bib and cross the virtual finish line of these virtual events—or spring flings, as we’re calling them. You pick the distance that works best for you:

  • Spring Fling #1: 1- or 2-mile time trial
  • Spring Fling #2: 2 Mile, 5K, or 10K
  • Spring Fling #3 5K, 10K, or 10 Mile

In addition, we have a bounty of great prizes for each event for all levels (and none involve how fast you run!).

TOOLS TO BLOOM

This program includes a weekly Tool to Bloom; consider it the fertilizer for your running. We’ll hit on everything from a proper warm-up (demonstrated in easy-to-follow video) to short injury-prevention strength routines to best hydration habits. You can chart your growth on your very own Love Blooming Tracker.

HANDS-ON COACHING

Running coaches Jen Steele and Mandy Cherry are front + center on the private Facebook
 page so you can tag them with any questions. The pair also post
 a weekly Ask-the-Coach thread, where they answer all your
 training and racing questions. In addition, live pre-race webinars get you primed for the finish line.

A private Love the Run Facebook page and Strava Club are offered so you can interact with each other and your coaches.

PROGRAM QUESTIONS + ANSWERS

Depending on what training track you choose, you’ll run or run/walk three to five times a week, cross train once or twice, and have a weekly off-the-road “assignment” to help your running bloom. During the program, runs include variety of
 easy efforts, long runs, intervals, tempos, and hill repeats.

Here’s a sample week; the workouts are explained fully in the program.

Absolutely! Walking is great; we’d recommend you join the “A” team (minus Mr. T!), and follow the program as written.

Absolutely! If you need some help adjusting your training schedule slightly to accommodate the Love events, our coaches can help you do that. Plus, you’ll benefit from the Tools to Bloom weekly tips + videos.

Of course! We designed this program to include unique, engaging events—we’re calling them Spring Flings—that all levels of runners or run/walkers will enjoy.

  • March 19-20: Spring Fling #1: 1- or 2-mile time trial
  • April 16-17: Spring Fling #2: 2 Mile, 5K, or 10K
  • May 7-8: Spring Fling #3 5K, 10K, or 10 Mile

All event weekends are flexible; if your schedule is busy during one, you can run the event at your convenience. Similarly, the effort and focus you put into the events is totally your call: You can race it, you can ramble it, you can do anything in between.

Nope! Just get out and get it done. If you join the private Strava group, you can record it there—and bask in all the kudos!

You do, however, have the option of submitting pictures for fun prizes: Each event has a variety of categories you can choose to enter if you’d like. (Here are two examples from our spring 2021 Love series.)

While the training program officially kicks off Monday, February 28, you are totally fine if you join a week or two late. We’re happy to help
 you slide into the training program at a spot that’s right for you.

Lucky you: You’ve got two training programs! If you’re on the A or M track, you can follow either program and be good to go. If you’re on the R track, we recommend following the Love the Run program so you’re ready for longer distances.

You can do the full Love the Run program with no extra equipment besides your running gear and your body. That said, here are a few extras to consider if you’d like:

Cross Training: If you have a bike or a piece of cardio equipment at the gym or home you like, you
 can use that for cross-training, but you can also walk or hike outside for cross training.

Off-the-Road: We will use a foam roller (or tennis ball) and resistance bands, but you don’t need them to participate in the streak. We have linked to two recommended products in Amazon, or you can easily find these at a local store.

You have two pairs of great running socks included in your Love swag bag.

One pair, the Wrightsock Coolmesh II Tab Socks, is available in sizes M (women’s size 6-8.5) and L (women’s size 9-11). Pick your size at checkout.

The other pair, the rnnr Marathon Crew socks, fits women’s sizes 6-10. All registrants will receive this size in their swag bag.

The registration fee includes all the Love the Run: Spring 2022 swag. The Love Spring Running jacket, however, costs extra, yet will be shipped domestically for free with your swag. (Our Canadian friends will pay $20 flat fee shipping total.)

Swag will start shipping the week of March 7.

Domestic shipping is included with the registration fee; Canadian orders are charged a $20 shipping fee.

We do not ship orders to countries other than the U.S. and Canada. If you live elsewhere, we’d still love to have you join us and can get you PDFs of the Love bibs but no physical swag shipment. International customers: Please email us, and we’ll get you set up!
